I have this weird issue with Windows Media Player on 2 XP machines.
Any video I have on my computer (downloaded, from camera, ripped from my DVD's etc.) will play fine in WMP... BUT the issue I have is that I cannot seek through the video. Most of these files are divx or xvid. Something weird, I am sure that at one point I could play any file and seek to specific point in the movie. The only solution I found is that I need to add the files to my library. If i play them from the library then everything is ok. The problem is that I dont want to add every video to my Library just so I can seek through them.... I all ready tried reinstalling WMP, i downgraded from 12 to 11, reinstalled codecs, etc.... I can open the same files in winamp or quicktime and the seek works fine there, so the files are not questionable. Like i said before, I used to be able to do the same in WMP some months ago... dont know what happened? Maybe a Windows update?? any ideas? anyone else seeing this? |

You could give this a try
If you use window xp or previous versions use media player 6 that comes with the ordinary microsoft windows media player. The path: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe It is slow in seeking, but should work fine. |
