Found out from a Shaw rep that they have slowed down the roll out of the new VOD....The rep also said that unless I am a member of Shaw Friends, I will never get HD content on VOD....

I have an older (3 yrs old) motorola HD 160gb dual tuner pvr DCT3416. I also have a motorola DCX-3200 (non pvr).
About two to three weeks ago, the guide on 3416 stopped updating. At the same time, the DCX3200 started dropping the video signal, and it would come back a few seconds later. I unplugged the 3416, and it never did update the guide, and on top of it the PVR function is dead plus i dont get a good part of the channels i should. I called shaw, they were not able to communicate with the 3416, and did manage to reset the dcx3200 which seems to have fixed the video dropping. A technician showed up. He tested the signal and said it was ok. He changed my splitter and that did nothing to help. He went through the menus on the 3416 and said the box is toast and i should buy a new one. A good friend of mine, also here in Calgary, just mentioned he had the same problem with his 3416, with dropping video, and no pvr function, also starting around the same time frame. Shaw gave a replacement, another 3416. It worked for less than a day, and again same problems. So he gets on the phone with tech support and a girl says, yes, we are having problems with the new software update we are pushing through and some of the older PVR unit are not accepting it and it's effectively killing the units. They are going to return to his place with yet another replacement. I find it odd both my boxes give problems, plus a friend has the same issue with his 3416. I'm leary if mine actually naturally died considering his issues, along with my dcx3200 acting up all at the same time. Is there a way to do a hard reset on the box and have it once again try to get back on the network considering they could not reset it from head office? I'm at a loss as to what to do other than buy a new 3400 unit which i'd rather not do just yet. Thank you. |

Hey guys,
We've had to put a temporary hold on pushing out the remaining VOD updates. I don't have an ETA right now but I'll be sure to let you guys know when I get more information. Sorry for the inconvenience. Cheers, Sean
