I couldn't get into the hype so will pass on D3. But I am getting sucked into Guild Wars 2

guild wars for me required too much time. there was no ability to solo at the end of the game as the difficulty was very high.
Where as D3 you dont have to rely on others just to beat the game. |

Finished regular difficulty tonight. Comparatively I can't really think of anything about D3 I like more than in D2. But I can think of a few things I liked about D2 more than D3
1: Stopping to farm some gear and get ready for the next big push. Blizzard killed boss farming. I get why and I don't disagree but now it doesn't feel like I ever get that break to stop and gear up. 2: Can't travel between chapters....you could do that all the way through D2...right? 3: This one is minor but it bugs me. Can't see armor models. When I was looking for new armor at a vendor in D2 the models were easily distinguished from each other. Maybe it's partly because of the gui size on my projector screen but I can't tell the difference between any armor in the shopping screen. 4: Story is not nearly as good, imo the story in D2 really kept you at the edge of your seat, for me, D3 was.......meh 5: Not letting me play a single player game because your server is down. Thanks for treating the honest players like they are pirates. Almost though chapter 1 in nitemare. The difficulty is up, no doubt, regular mobs aren't killing me but if you get the wrong rare mob....just chain deaths. I'm also finding I can never get ahead of the game. Always just scraping by. The only way I can see me getting proper gear to make the journey a little less deadly is to sell all my rare's and buy the appropriate ones on the auction house. Perhaps that's the intent and I'm just used to being self sufficient. Despite my list of negatives I am enjoying the game. I put 1000+ hours into D2, mostly lan parties. Not sure if D3 is THAT enjoyable. But then again, I guess I need to give Blizzard a chance to release all the cool stuff. |

In Diablo 2 you would farm for rare items by repeatedly killing the bosses of the game. Bosses now only drop rares on the 1st kill and only in normal mode.
To add to my last comment, it seems obvious that once you get to nitemare, your options are to buy you're upgrades or suffer. Waiting for RNG to reward you is the true nitemare. That said, if you are buying all you're gear.....isn't that killing one of the major selling points of the game? |

I confirmed no rares from the bosses in nightmare. This is very unfortunate
I agree, I think crafting and the auction house has replaced farming the bosses for upgrades. |

There are some serious balance issues and the prices on the AH suggest there are some heavy duty exploits going on.
My first character was a Barb which was a mistake, melee characters can't do nearly as well in Inferno as ranged. In fact, it is IMPOSSIBLE for my barb to get through Act II without Act III/Act IV gear. My ONLY option is to buy all the gear I need on the AH. Problem is, prices on the AH have scaled into the millions of gold within weeks and it would take me weeks of farming to get the gold needed for the upgraded need to progress. Meanwhile ranged classes farm bosses in later acts, selling their wares for as I said...millions. The difficulty ramp-up between Act I and II in Inferno is sick and farming Act I doesn't net you anything worthwhile. World+dog wants/needs the Act III/IV stuff. So I rolled a Mage, mainly as there was a relatively easy if not extremely boring way to farm a reasonable amount of gold. Breakable jars can have gold. There is a spot in Act I with dozens of jars, with very high gold find and pickup range you can farm this spot and make 300K-400K per hour. When a single item can easily cost 4-5M (rares, not legendaries, they are 20M+ for the good stuff), 300-400K/HR doesn't sound like allot does it? Well Blizzard felt it important enough to nerf, of all the issues with this game, they had to focus on this....... I'm still playing because I want to say I finished Inferno, Blizzard isn't making it easy. I believe many people are playing this game just because of the name and reputation. Supposedly they are fixing some of the balance issues next patch, shall see. |

act 2 inferno is insane. like not even fun insane. everything kills you in 1 shot and has millions of hp's. my WD is stuck basically until i can somehow get millions of gold or skip into act 3 to do some farming so i can actualy beat act 2... |

Still ACT II Hell here, looks like I have something to look fwd to. ;-)
1.03 patch is supposed to address some of the issues. AH prices though are what they are, dictated by the market. As long as there are folks willing to buy items for those types of funds, it will stay that high. I suspect in a few weeks things will level off. The spike IMHO is partially due to the real money auction house recently going live. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/6262...-6_6_2012#blog |
