Default YOW Excitement

It would seem a UAE Airbus A380 had to make an emergency landing in Ottawa a short time ago. They were running low on fuel waiting to land in Toronto before making the mayday call and going to Ottawa.

Reports indicate we've never had such a big plane here before. Apparently even the fuel truck ran out of fuel when refilling it!

They are just waiting for the weather to clear up in Toronto they can take-off.

Check out the circling it did in Toronto before giving up;

That's an enormous plane. Apparently airports handling this plane must be certified to handle it's weight. Hopefully there was no airstrip or apron damage from the weight....

Seems to be fine. I'm listening to the ATC feed right now... they are cleared for take off as soon as they are ready.

I flew on one from Montreal to Paris last month. Incredible plane. As big as it looks outside, you can't believe how big it is inside. I loved the camera on the tail that allows you to watch the take off and landing.
