Didn’t know if I should put this here or in satellite.
2 Bell guys came around asking if I had Rogers. Said no and asked if you were doing a survey to determine if they should turn Fibre TV on (Fibre 25 already available here in Oshawa). The Rep. said they were just trying to get Rogers customers to convert to Bell TV (satellite) and once they had enough satellite customers they would turn Fibre TV on. He also said that it would be available in a year. Are Bell Management NUTS !!! Why would you get Rogers customers to convert to Bell Satellite and then within a year convert them to Fibre TV. |

I doubt those were official Bell reps. Possibly some overzealous neighbours or independent sales folks

Bell has a couple of sales teams (hired companies?) going around trying to win back customers. The two offers I've seen are 20/20/20 (three services for $20/mo for one year) and a Fibe pre-sale (same TV packages as Fibe plus 6Mb DSL at a discount.) They sound good at first but Bell has the extra TV channels so overpriced that it's not worth it. The TV package is a 2 year contract with the special price ending after a year.
I don't think that Bell management is crazy to do this. For one, it recruits new customers. )Never mind that they are people more likely to switch when the Bell special pricing expires.) It also gives them an idea of how many Fibe customers they might get in areas not yet upgraded. Quote:

Bell does not want customers signing up for Expressvu then switch to Fibe. It costs them too much. The costs to install both are not recouped for a while.
It looks revenue neutral too for them as they both cost the same so what would be the point? |

That depends on Bell actually delivering on the Fibe promise. I've lost count of the number of times a Bell rep has lied to me. Plus Bell can deny any knowledge since these are independent marketing companies, not Bell employees. Bell is losing a lot of customers in this area, possibly due to the slow rollout of Fibe (aka fibre to the node.) I've had two visits from Bell reps and two more from marketers offering deals since I left about 16 months ago. It's also apparent that Bell is looking to Fibe TV as a long term strategy and is trying to switch satellite customers over. Is Bell trying to switch their satellite customers over to Fibe before a sale of the satellite service? Bell TV/Expressvu has been an ongoing problem for Bell so it's definitely possible.
