Has anyone watched TVLand recently. The program selection on TVLand is absolutely deplorable compared to what you can get on the US version. I realise that some of the programs on TVLand US are airing on other stations here in Canada but surely TVLand Canada can find a much beter selection of programs.

What burns me even more is the fact that the US version is on the eligible list of satellite services. Why are Canadian subjected to crappy knock-offs like this?

CTVglobemedia could move The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy over to TV Land Canada from the Comedy Network since they are classic TV shows from 1950's. TV Land Canada should acquire the Canadian rights to The Beverly Hillbillies, The Lucy Show, Starsky & Hutch, S.W.A.T., Family Affair, Ironside, Kojak, Gilligan's Island, The Munsters, Leave It to Beaver, Star Trek (TOS), The Monkees, The Partridge Family Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost In Space, Land of the Giants and Room 222.

TV Land Canada should carry some Canadian TV shows like The Trouble with Tracy, Mom PI, Wojeck, Due South, Circus, Ray St. Germain Country, 4 on the Floor, Kids in the Hall and Stars on Ice this fall.

TV Land Canada made only a small profit the past 2 years and lost money before that with better lineups than they have now.
See http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/publications/reports/BrAnalysis/p&sp2007/individual/405426314.htm (site referenced in thread http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=85451) .

They made money recently by keeping their costs low.

I'd love to see a lineup like you suggested but most of the Specialty 1 and 2 channels seem to have limited revenue, not near what the older channels achieve.

I don't know if better programming would attract much increased viewership. Perhaps as more people get digital (PVRs, HD, etc.).

Have you noticed the lineup on AOL (U.S.) Video - Free TV Episodes. Pretty impressive old TV shows on the internet.
