Just had Rogers installed today - switched from Bell Sympatico, which I had been with for about 6 or 7 years. Best speed I ever saw with Sympatico was 4.7 Mpbs upload/420 kpbs upload - this was during the last few weeks. Average was about 3.2 M down/350 k up. The account had no cap, but the most I ever used was 30 Gb/mth

I chose the Rogers High Speed Express account - 10 Mbps download/512 upload with 60 Gb/mnth cap

Speedtest results to a few different servers:

I also have Home Phone, digital cable VIP/HD service and a wireless account. I can't quote the price without bundling - I am paying $46.99 for 1st 6 months, $48.52/mth after that for the internet. Savings of about $10/month compared to Bell.

Tempted to try the new 15Mb/s offering Telus has.

I just signed up with VDN Cable having previously been with Bell. First off with Bell I was getting great service, I was actually get 7mb/s. And I believe I paid $40/month + tx.

Now with VDN I'm on the 9mb/s down and 1up package for $33.45.
Here's the first speedtest with them:

And everything took a nose dive in the last few days:

At this point I'm not sure if I want to stay with them or cancel and return to Bell where I got great service and speeds.

What's VDN? It shows being Bell Canada Cable VDN (Are they related?)
Also, your first speed test was selected from a Montreal Server, which is located close to you. Your second test is on a Toronto Server, which is farther away. It wouldn't give you such major speed differences, but it's best comparing speeds on the same server.

You might try reseting your Modem and/or router to see if it makes a difference. Also do you have anything that could take up bandwidth such as streaming audio, P2P downloads/uploads, QOS setup, etc.. ?

VDN is a subsidiary of Bell Canada here in Montreal. www.vdn.ca

My speeds have gotten even worse over this weekend, I'm now down to 0.02 Mb/s download. I've tried everything, reset the modem, check all the cables, and etc.. nothing has made a difference. I'll call up VDN on Tuesday and see whats going on.

After checking all the connections I found out my internet connection degradation was due to the splitter failing. All is well when I attach to the main cable line. Therefore:

With Sympatico. I pay about $50/month. I'll have to try a speed test connected directly to the router. This was done wirelessly and I think it might have maxed out.

Technically I pay nothing :P But this is $59.95 for 15/1.25, lower with some bundling discounts.
