I just got off the phone with a Bell rep at ExpressVu and she said i could no longer purchase the 6000/6020 models. She said the new 6100 and 6120 are now shipping and available for purchase.
6100/6120 from Bell direct $599 She said u should start to see promotions anytime for the new models. I asked about the HDPVR unit and she lol and said thats the most popular question shes getting right now. But unfortunatley she said there is no official release date for the HDPVR unit as of yet. |

Does anybody have a link or anything? I'm trying to get onto Bell's site and I keep getting "page cannot be displayed."

Bell rep said that the Rental program is still only for new customers, but yes the new models can be rented.
I was on the Bell site last night and the 6000/6020 had been removed. I too cannot get on Bells site as of 1:20pm PST. 16/6/04 |

6100 is not a pvr, just an updated HD box that now includes a DVI out. The HD PVR will be model # 9100.

Its correct that the 6000 + 6020 are no longer available to order at the wholesale level, but the new receiver is not available yet either..
I just checked... We have been told to start checking on June 21st... |

is it known if this receiver will be smart card-less?
I suppose it will be based on the dish 811 too... |

If it is based on the 811 then it will be cardless, according to what I can see in the picture: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/p...hd/index.shtml
It also appears to not be a PVR model. That would have been too good; HD and PVR in a receiver for $600? I can now get onto Bell's site. I don't see either model; the 6000 or the 6100. I'd call them but I don't feel like being on hold for 45 minutes. |

One thing I wonder is how the 811 makes use of the:
"sets of RCA-type audio/video inputs" |

Just a hunch, but I think it's for connecting things and stuff.

I can understand one for easy hook up of a digital camera etc...even though most HDTV's are going to have that already..
But how could a person make any practical use of 2 inputs? Starchoice DSR500 has 1 set on the front...as well as a USP port... I have used the DSR500 this way with my digital camera...pressing the TV/Video button on the remote switches from Starchoice programming to the camera...and you can look through the SC guide while looking at your pictures as picture in guide... |

Sorry Skyway. I thought you were being sarcastic.
You are right; what possible use could somebody have for 2 sets of inputs. Now if this was the PVR model I could understand it; in case you wanted to record something onto the hard drive. Another possibility; they think that maybe people without HD sets and only 1 set of inputs on their TV might be buying this receiver. Seeing as it doesn't have a coax output if somebody had a DVD player and the receiver and only one set of inputs on their TV; it might make sense. Personally I would have rather seen the Coax output. Right now I have the 4700 connected to the big screen TV, and the rest of the TV's in the house connected thru coax. I've already counted on having to use a spare VCR as an RF modulator if I end up getting this one. |
