Either option, you have to pay 1.99 a month for PVR channel/guide (950 channel that you watch playback on)
This is why I hate Rogers  (Bell is no better)

Why would you rent a product for $25 then charge $2/mo to use it? What did the expect I was going to do with it? Why not just make the rental $27. (all rhetorical questions, I don't expect anyone to answer)

What I am interested in are the bundles, since I am going to have to give up my Grandfathered VIP. Any chance they are going to bundle the HD PVR rental with a decent cable package and cell phone?

I went to a different store (Danforth). Call the store for hours (make sure you ask for the cable section hours, because the video section is different) I believe they open at 10AM, but check...

Why do you have to lose your old bundle? When I got my SD PVR a few months back I didn't have to give it up. Worst case you could keep a plain SD terminal on the account as well if that means you can keep the bundle. I had 2 SA3000's I was renting and just replaced one of them with an SA8000 PVR.

darrylr, you only lose the old bundle if you do an "exchange". By keeping one STB, you get to keep your bundle, just like you said. You can then add the DVR as an additional STB. See the Sticky on the SA8000HD at the top of this forum for more details.

Why not just make the rental $27.
Because they can then increase or decrease either charge appropriately. For example, the "value" of the PVR functionality may go up and they may charge $3 for it, while the value of the STB goes down in a year or so and they'd charge $20/mo.

Many companies do this in their "bundles", itemizing all the possible items, but charging a different final rate even.

When I get my bill for my Rogers Bundle it may be $110 for example, but if I look at the details, it may be $140 with a $30 overall "discount".

Is the 8000HD more like the 3250HD with a PVR or the 3100HD with a PVR? In other words can it display SD shows in fullscreen using the component out?

Check back in a few days (after June 1) on the SA8000HD "sticky" thread. We'll know then what it's capable of.
