Sony SXRD, SXRD-XBR (LCoS, Not LCD) Optical Block Problems

Well Sony will still fix it as I am covered under extended warranty until end of 2009. I can buy an additional year until 2010.

But my point is, if they are changing a component in my system and have extended the limited warranty of this component until June 30, 2009 THEN my extended warranty should cover me for this component only for the term after limited warranty. So for the optical block I should be covered until June 30, 2012.

Since the maximum we can go is 2010 (max 4 year extended warranty allowed), we consumers are on the hook if anything goes wrong with the optical block again. It took 3 years to show up. So are we going to have to spend $1000 for the part and $$$ for the labor to have it fixed again!??

Other retail stores like Sears ahve extended plans which you can buy in 1, 2 and 3 year terms for as long as you want. They do not cut you short like this.
