Quite frankly, I think most 9242s are refurbed 622s in a new case. They haven't been manufactured for a long time. That is why Bell has to discontinue them. No more 622s to refurb. |

could be the 722 with a 320 Gb HDD instead of the 500 Gb we should have gotten from the beginning.

I did not have 119 on my first 9242 (within a month of them being introduced) but I installed in the last week.
It showed 110/119/91/82 and recognized my DPP44 switch right out of the box before I did the mandatory satellite check. They are probably being shipped with the newer firmware from Echo to Bell. It did, unlike the original 3100s, show up as a Bell ExpressVu firmware set. Vis |

I didn't see any dish software or satellites when activating my 9242 today. But due to a faulty DVI cable, it was on a long time before I first saw the screen so who knows.
The install though was a nightmare. First it told me the HDD was corrupted and needed to be reformatted. Then it when into an infinite loop of acquiring sat signal and then downloading the guide. The problem in the end was due to it not recognizing my switch. Getting it to come up and then doing a check switch finally got it on it's feet. Worst install/setup that I've ever done though. This is the 6th BEV receiver I've personally owned. I've setup a bunch of others for other people too. If I were a newbie, I'd never have gotten through it. Oh well, it's up and running now... |

North of Calgary...I had the exact same issues that you described so after the third 'acquiring sat signal' loop I rebooted and that fixed it.

My brand new 9242 also said the hard drive was corrupted on start up. Hmmm.

The 9242's I setup all had the corruption error as well. A real corruption would take a very long time to format. This took a few seconds and then rebooted.

Yes, the corruption to the HDD was fixed in just a few seconds. The loop of acquiring sat then downloading the guide was sure annoying. First I tried a soft reset with no luck, then pulled the power cord. After that I did a cancel when downloading the guide and managed to get it going with just SD. From there I could tell that it had only locked in on the one sat and was missing all of the HD channels. Check switch and everything was fine.
Point being that it was a really difficult install. I'm no pro but after 6 of my own, a bunch for extended family, and these forums, I know what I'm doing thankfully. If I were brand new to satellite I'd be pretty disillusioned. I can see why Bell wants to try to force the pro installation down our throats. |

Same here, I had the exact same issues and when I called the Bell technical support the clerk I got (no way that guy was a tecchie) had no clue, seems all they're trained to do is tell you to unplug/replug...
