The stuff they have been doing with KITT's transformations are beyond stuipid at times. They are insulting to the point of making you feel like the producers really consider the viewing pubic to be composed of congenitial idiots.

Keeping it within the limits of known physics would help. No matter what, the show demands the usual suspense of disbelieve, but it should not also demand the suspension of all higher cognitive facilities at the same time.
