I use WM9 and it works great at home and work. Never have a problem, but I will say when it first became offerred it took weeks to get it to work, my password would never work, but its all good now. Life without Sirius at work would be suicidal.

So I've tried everything in the above posts and I still can't get the internet radio to work. It works at work and friends homes but not in my home on two different computers. I went back to wmp 10, I deleted the files WMSDKNS.DTD and WMSDKNS.XML, I've turned off my firewall and all internet protection but the sirius player just keeps saying 'Ready' whether it's with Firefox or Explorer. I loaded the sirius widget and it just cycles with the messages "receiving channel stream...connecting...ready".
I have a US account and I'm running windows xp and wondering if it's a problem with my provider Rogers with a US account. Anyone else have problems with Rogers and Sirius online? |

I have Rogers up at my cottage just outside of Barrie and I have no issues with running my U.S. Sirius Internet Radio subscription. In Toronto, I have Bell Sympatico and I don't have any issues running it on that either.

It sounds to me like you may have either inadvertently deleted some files that allow WMP to work or they were otherwise corrupted somehow.
The reason I say this is that the same thing happened to me with WMP9 and it drove me absolutely nuts for a week trying to figure out why I could suddenly no longer connect to the Sirius online stream (or any Windows Media stream for that matter). Here's the fix that will allow you to rename a folder so that WMP can rebuild some of those necessary components: To rename the Player networking information folder: 1. Close Windows Media Player completely. 2. Click Start, then select Run. 3. In the Run dialog box, type the following (exactly as shown): %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media This step opens the following folder on your computer: SystemDrive:\Documents and Settings\UserProfileName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Media 4. In this folder, rename the folder 10.0 to 10.0.bak 5. Start the Player and try to stream the content again. Give it a shot and let us know if it solves the problem. Good luck! |

FLACer I LOVE YOU!
I've had Sirius for 2 1/2 years and no-one, not Sirius, not Rogers have ever been able to help me get the internet radio to work. This is amazing, I can't thank you enough. Your suggestion worked right off the bat. Thanks dude, you made my day! |

No problem Stew Katz. I'm happy to hear it worked for you because I know how frustrating this was for me. If this ever happens to you again for some reason, you now know this will do the trick. (BTW, sometimes deleting temporary virus definition files will cause WMP to stop working correctly and behave like this so be sure to keep this in mind when performing your normal computer maintainance rituals.)
As for no one at Sirius being able to help you, are you really surprised?

BTW Stew Katz, in case you haven't already, don't forget to re-enable your firewall and all other necessary internet protection. Having these running will have no effect on your ability to re-set WMP in the future if you have to and they really shouldn't be turned off anyway.
And, if I may say so, there's absolutely no need to "upgrade" to WMP 11 in order to access any online content out there that I'm aware of. If WMP 10 is letting you do what you want to do, then leave it alone. Remember, just because something is the latest and greatest doesn't always mean it's the best. Case in point #1: The Stiletto won't even work with WMP 11. Case in point #2: Windows Vista. |

I have WMP 11 and by following your directions (except I renamed the folder named 11.0 to '11.0.bak') I was finally able to receive the stream after 25+ calls to Sirius (customer service there is awful), a call to my computer maker and searching all over the internet!
Thank you FLACer! |

You're quite welcome, dj0114.
I'm glad to hear that this solution worked for you as well and that you're back to enjoying Sirius Internet Radio. BTW, I did forgot to mention that this little trick does indeed work for all versions of WMP (9, 10 and 11), so when you rename the folder it will be with the number of whatever version of WMP is causing you grief. |

Finally got it working
I have WMP 11 Under Tools, Options then Player tab. Had to check "Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands)" If you are behind a hardware firewall (like work) goto the Network tab and unselect RTSP/UDP and RTSP/TCP. Leave HTTP selected. |

FLACer....wow.....Thank you so much you made me believe in the internet again. I live in Alaska and we can't get regular sirius so all I get is online. Two days ago all of a sudden is stopped working on my laptop(vista) but worked fine on my desktops, but without portability I was about to put my laptop through a wall. Sirius technical is HORRIBLE, I mean seriously "Your password is case sensitive make sure to type it in correctly, if you still have problems contact us again." How in gods name you were able to find this fix is still beyond me. I never register for forums I wont ever use again, but your fix was so amazing it made my week I had to post a response. I don't think you will ever appreciate how much you have helped me and probably the other people who almost put their computers through a wall.

I'm glad to hear that I was able to help you out nleland and I sincerely appreciate your kind words.
I didn't want to throw a laptop through a wall, but I sure did want to heave the old desktop when this happened to me. It really did take me a week to determine how all of a sudden WMP would stop working for no apparent reason and believe me I tried everything I could possibly think of. Even using several different system restore points in XP and reinstalling WMP did not solve the problem. Since I knew something had obviously corrupted WMP to the point where incredibly even reinstalling it didn't fix the problem, on a whim I tried resetting its folder to see if that would return it to normal operation. Thankfully, it did just that, but the problem then was I had to pinpoint exactly what it was that caused the problem in the first place so it wouldn't happen again. It was through a great deal of trail and error that I determined that deleting the temporary .bin files through the AVG Anti-Virus Control Center interface was the culprit. For some reason, this seemingly harmless procedure makes WMP go haywire. You wouldn't think that something so unrelated as this would cause such headaches, but it's true. I really can't say if there is any other procedure with any other software that might have the same effect on WMP, but I know for a fact that that's what caused it in my case. I had never heard of or experienced such a thing as this before, but when I read here that others were having the same problem I knew I had to offer this suggestion because I really do know how maddening it can be trying to get WMP to work properly again. It's just good to know that so far, it has helped others get back to being able to enjoy Sirius (or whatever other stream they might have been temporarily missing) online. If anyone else has any experiences with any other software causing to WMP to stop working, I'd appreciate it if you'd post them here. After all, an ounce of prevention is indeed worth a pound of cure. (Or in Canada, I guess that's a gram of prevention is worth a kilogram of cure.) |

I just thought I would pipe in here. I solved a problem like this for a friend. It turned out to be fairly simple, but not obvious.
The had an icon at the bottom of their browser called "Protected Mode" as soon as I clicked on it and turned it off, and tried again a message from Sirius popped up saying that this account had been used on another computer and to notify them if this was unauthorized. After I cleared that message it worked fine. Later with protected mode turned back on it stopped working again. When I turned of protected mode, it popped up with a message saying I had logged in to many times today. So it seems that if anything blocks these messages it becomes non functional, until you can recieve them and clear them. Hope this helps someone! |

Never posted here before but i found the fix on how to make this work with WMP11 so i signed up to help.
like habskilla posted "Under Tools, Options then Player tab. Had to check "Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands)" If you are behind a hardware firewall (like work) goto the Network tab and unselect RTSP/UDP and RTSP/TCP. Leave HTTP selected." but there is one more step i had to take go into WMP11 select Tools> Options> Privacy (<< it's a tab) under the Enhanced Content Provider Services check the "Send unique player ID to content providers" apply and ok works no problem now!!! finally howard at work again. Thank you to everyone who replied in this post, pointed me towards the answer. |
