Default got me some questions *n00b alert*

Alright, so I'm not completely dense when it comes to technology, but home audio has never been my forte.

I'm going to be moving into a Condo later in the year, and in an attempt to prioritize moving in, I have started considering my HT setup before the mortgage (Wife thinks i got that one backwards, but what does she know!!)

Anyhow, the family/dining room is 10'4x20'10, window at one end with a door to the balcony in the corner

http://conservatorygroup.com/universal_galaxy.html

that's my unit, small but enough for what I need.

I want to put the TV against the big window at the end, wife wants it on the side wall.. that i dont really care about, i just think it'll sound and look better against the end of the room.

So, my questions.

Buddy of mine says to make sure I get a receiver that has HD 1.3a capability, I agree with him because I dont want to have to buy another receiver in 2 years. Not sure what to get though, was browsing FS and BB for ideas and saw a few, Denon AVR-888, Pioneer VSX-9120TXH-K, Yamaha HTR6190B. I also saw a Denon 2308 at another store.

I'm sure one of the cheaper of those selections will suit my needs, where i'm coming up stumped is speakers (not sure if this is technically the right place to ask that question)

As an example, Bestbuy has a Denon (AVR-688), JBL combo on sale

I could replace the Receiver, but I'm thinking the speakers are too much for a small condo... Maybe i should get the better receiver now and lower end/cheaper speakers till i get a house down the line??

Looking at the room i've got available, can someone suggest ideas for speakers??

(Tv i'm looking at is the Sharp Aquos 42 or 46 inch, i'll have a PS3 for DVD, Bluray)

TIA

Have a look at the following post, useful for newbies to the forum:

Check out the various existing threads in the AVR section - lots have already been discussed and post in those threads as necessary.

As is often the case, the first question is: What is your budget range / max. price (pre- or post-taxes)?

thanks 57, lotsa good info in that thread, i'm going to read it properly when I get home.

Eljay, I dont know how much I want to spend because it will depend on how much the wife freaks out, but say for example if i Budget $1000 for speakers and sub...

I know it's not going to be stellar for that, but there must be a decent setup out there for me
