after researching on-line I have bought onkyo 705 avr thinking it was able to switch from 8 ohm to 4 ohm out put impedances. I went ahead and bought polkadio speakers ( 4ohm -LCIC,center-LCI65FX for other six ).once receiving the avr from the on line supplier I read the owner manual which states :
the 8ohm to 4 ohm switching is only on european model not on north american one.now, can I use this combination or should I ,can I, use the onkyo 705 as a pre amp to amp of matching impedance of the speakers?if so what amp? ![]() rug man |

THe LCi series are, I believe, 4 ohm speakers.
The manual says there are two settings for speaker impedance: 4 ohms for 4 ohm speakers, and 6 ohms for anything between 6 and 16 ohms. I have an SR805 and it has the same setup parameters, including the 4 ohms setting. Once you hook up the receiver, take a look at the actual configuration settings and see if the 4ohms is there. |
