Default Atlas DVR (day) remote model 1055; meaning of blinking 6 times

I recently bought a 8300HD PVR to replace my rental and I just got the remote that came with the new PVR setup. I put batteries in it but pressing any keys just gave me 6 blinks. I could not set it up and it did not turn on the PVR.

The booklet that come with the remote is silent on this as is the manufacturer's web site. So I call the manufacturer's support line.

Six blinks means that the batteries needs to be changed :-) The ones shipped with the PVR were already dead...

I changed the batteries and all is well. Hopefully this post will help somebody...

I guess this assumes that there is enough juice in the batteries to get the remote to actually blink 6 times. Thanks for the tip, I'll put it in the SA FAQ.

Perhaps the original batteries had a poor contact. Sometimes turning the batteries round and round while they're in the remote will help make good contact again, or using an emery board or similar on the contacts.

Thanks 57... The batteries were indeed weak after testing them with a battery tester...

Default that helps

Just throwing in a bit of appreciation for the original poster (3456) and 57 (moderator). I had the same problem, changed batteries and it is working fine now!

Default thanks

Just tonight I was getting the 6 blinks, checked the manual and couldn't find anything. Thanks for the tip, how they arrived at 6 blinks for low batteries is a mystery to me!
