IIRC the big Folding performance is because of the way they are using the graphics processor as part of the process.
Don't forget that inside the PS3 is a fancy RSX graphics chip, essentially a DX10 processor from Nvidia. I can't remember which flavour of commercial chip from Nvidia it equates to. This of course doesn't mean that they can't simply send two streams to the GPU and still have enough horsepower. |
