I have noted in other threads about the 360 that the newer models have attempted to fix various inherent problems with the console. I would like to buy a 360 but I was wondering if the Elite or other models have fixed all of the problems or should I wait for a newer model to come out? Thanks!

Thanks! As you say, it looks like it will be difficult for the technically challenged people such as myself to figure out if they've got the proper model.

You can open the flip lid on the box and look at the manufacture date. Anything made in August of later will have the heat sync and new HDMI board with epoxy holding down the CPU.
Everyone is waiting for the new CPU, when really the GPU is the major cause of heat in the machine. Go get one of the Pros from Walmart, cheap and have all the above improvements. |

Also, when you decide to go in, I'd also buy it from a store that has at least a 30-day money back no hassles policy so that you can have a chance to give it a go - like leave it on for hours at a time even when you aren't playing etc. Give it your own stress test. If it can endure that in the initial times, then you have a better chance of not being hassled later. (I do this with almost all of my consumer electronics after I buy them just to weed out the ones that are defective but may not show it immediately). Cheers Cal |

Halo 3 Limited Edition 65nm box can get RRoD
I hope this isn't true - it would be nice to get a RRoD free 360 before the holidays. Quote:
