Default Shaw Analogue Cable no longer in Stereo?

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, and I'm sorry if it has been covered.

I currently have just the basic Shaw Analogue Cable in Calgary (I know, I know, but with a new baby in the house, I just can't swing the $450 for the HD box) and until recently, most of the channels were being delivered in Stereo. However, looking through the channels this week showed me that the vast majority of channels are now being delivered in Mono, with only a few in Stereo. Has anyone else noticed this? I have contacted Shaw, and am waiting for their reply.

While speaking with one of their representatives a few months ago, they basically said that Shaw was trying to migrate their analogue customers to Digital (Of course, it makes them more money) and I was wondering if this move from Stereo to Mono was part of a tactic to make Analogue less attractive, and try to get more people to upgrade?

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Thanks!
