We have 4 POTS lines that are configured to roll-over from one to the next to the next (etc). They are not centrex. They are real phone lines (they can be called individually from outside our office, they have their own phone numbers). An alternative term is a "hunt" group. Our telecom provider is Bell Canada. We are located in Southwestern Ontario (west of Toronto).
We were in a situation recently where we received numerous calls to our primary (first) line where we could tell there was someone on the line (breathing) but who failed to respond and hung up on us each time. The *69 feature (pay-per-use) last call indentification feature does not work on our lines (we have known this for some time). A call to a bell agent (310-Bell) came back with an explanation that because of the roll-over configuration, that *69 is not possible. They are also not able to even help identify or take some action with the troublesome caller situation we were facing. The Bell agent said that our configuration is known by several names -specifically mentioning roll-over or a hunt-group. That might explain, perhaps, why *69 can't work on the second, third, or fourth line, but why can't it work for calls made to our first line? Can anyone here verify that Bell is technically not capable of activating or making the *69 function work on our POTS lines because of roll-over configuration? |

Feature compatibility on DMS switches has a number of dependencies, Customer group [feature defaults], Subgroups, Line Class and feature compatibility. Without the ability to query your lines directly in the DMS, it is unclear exactly what line features you have been assigned.
For example, you could have DLH or DNH [directory line hunt or directory number hunt] and therefore you will have restrictions to access RES features. |
