Currently, and for many a year now, I've been using high speed cable. It is appearing as though that may come to a crashing end when we move to a location that offers neither cable nor DSL, infact we're stuck with Bell for home phone service.
I've done my research and I've been rather disappointed with availability of fixed wireless in the area, unless I've missed something. Hence I am asking here in hopes that someone may point out a provider or other solution I've overlooked. The place is just north of Brantford, between St. George and Lynden. I've looked at a few mappings of service areas of a couple of providers, and it just seems to be outside the area. Are there any wireless providers that provide access to rural parts just north of Brantford that anyone knows about? So far, my only high speed solution seems to be Look Communications, but it's a solution that will tie up a phoneline for upbound traffic. Though I've no reason to think that this wouldn't be a good solution otherwise. Of course, I'd like to see it not be that much more expensive than cable or dsl and not have absurd throughput caps like Bell's "Unplugged" service for $45. 512K up, 2GB soft limit. Yes. 2GB. Their premium is $60 for 3MB/10GB. If they dropped the limits, it's reasonable enough that I'd go for it, excepting that it's Bell and my Bell bias leads me to not wanting ANY of their services. Thanks |
