I have about 22 hours of HD recordings so my available HD space should be 3 hours but it's showing me 25 hours available. All my recorded shows are still listed (and protected) but every single one of them gives me this error (multiple reboots done and still doesnt go away):
" [0] A problem was encountered when opening the files for this event. Please note the error code: 07" I know the cause for this but not the solution (if there even is one). The cause: Yesterday afternoon, I looked in my PVR recording list and, over and above my regular recordings, had 150 recordings of "O" minutes. The propram I was attempting to record a few hours earlier happened during heavy rain... therefore the "buggy" 150 X 0 minute recordings. I've deleted them all (the 0 minute recordings) and everything seemed to be just fine. Now 24hours later, all of my recorded shows have the error 07 and my availble HD space is now showing as 25 hours (HD). The same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months earlier and therefore I know the multiple 0 minute recordings are the cause of the corruption. Does anyone know of any way to re-construct these recordings/ repair this error? I think it's time for me to make a YOUTUBE / MYSPACE online video about the BEV 9200 / DISH 942 so hundreds of thounsands of people can see it on the World Wide Web and humiliate both BEV and DISH... perhaps then something would change. Please if someone wants to beat me to the punch (since I don't have a digital video camera...) please do so... for all of our sakes... Last edited by unreal1080p; 2006-10-19 at 07:35 PM. |

That doesn't sound good at all. It would appear your file index is totally munged. 07 errors have cropped up in the past for many people but usually just on a single recording, the others are fine. You could try the single recording 07 fix which is as follows:
Pick a recording and when you get the 07 screen hold the Power button down on the receiver until it resets. Go back to the same recording. It will still claim there is an 07 error but try to play it anyway. In the single recording 07 error scenario, the reset fixes the file index and the recording will play despite the 07 warning. Once it starts playing, the 07 problem will be corrected for that recording. In your case, however, it seems your index is so screwed up that I'm not optimistic. But you've got nothing to lose by trying. |

That's the first thing I tryed (prior to writing my initial post)... multiple times... no cigar...
Unlike the "normal" error 07 message, these messages are preceded by "[0]" which the normal error 07 messages (the ones that are easily fixed) arent. The full error message once again: " [0] A problem was encountered when opening the files for this event. Please note the error code: 07" The fact that my available hard drive recording space shows as 25 hours (High Definition) leads my to assume/believe my recordings are gone forever... the only glimmer of hope that I hold on to (as far as repairing the index) is that all of my recordings are still listed on the PVR as opposed to being deleted... which for all intents and purposes, appear to be so anyway Last edited by 57; 2006-11-14 at 12:07 AM. I'm having this problem too...had 15 hours HD free, but now every recording is giving me this problem...the only recording that worked is one from a couple of hours ago. I was moving my pvr around with it powered on and recording, and now nothing plays back except for that one show that was recording. I'll probably try re-formatting it tonight

Unfortunately, once a rainstorm or snowstorm happens and you start losing your signal, that's when a series of events happens that leads to a corrupted index and lost recordings. First you will see anywhere from 50-150 recordings with 0min to 3min in length. You will end up erasing all of them. What this will do is also corrupt your index, and all other recordings you have on your HD. As was mentioned above, if you have the 07 Error statement that begins with a "0" then the show cannot be recovered, even with a reset. I tried a soft reset when going into that show, and it does nothing... It's a serious bug that hopefully Bell and Dish are addressing, if not, it's something we will have to live with. I have learned my lesson twice now. The HD should not be used for archiving shows. If you have a favorite show or event you want to keep, go buy a DVD recorded and transfer it to disk, and avoid this headache of lost and corrupted recordings...

Yes this is what happened to me that morning...I had 50+ 0 minute or 1 minute episodes from shows that recorded thru-out the night, formatting fixed the issue

it again and got Error 07 again, then I rebooted and tried and got Error 07 again, and then tried one more time and the show played well. Sometimes the indexing is only corrupted in memory, and I must have managed to get it to re-read the disk. I may not be getting what you mean by "begins with a 0", and wouldn't have known to pay attention anyway - I will if I have this again, though. It's the worst bug the unit has, no question. |

-I was greeted one morning with a PVR containing 226 recordings (most being invalid 0 minute recordings). -Last time this happened, my previously recorded shows where ok until I decide to delete the invalid 0 minute recordings... then the following morning, all of the recorded shows where FUBAR... So this time, I decided NOT to delete the 0 minute recordings -Nearly a month later and still no issues with recordings, including recordings that happened BEFORE the 200+ O minute recordings. -With the advent of the new HD net channel, I’ve been recording more then usual and ran out of space and the PVR deleted the 0 minute recordings as they where the only recordings on the PVR to be unprotected - More than a week has past and my recordings are doing just fine including the ones I still have from before the 0 minute recordings. No corrupt index or recordings to speak of. I don't know if this is a coincidence but doing 2 things seems to have prevented the corruption: 1) Not manually deleting the 0 minute recordings 2) Letting the 9200 delete them on its own when it ran out of space (view history, disk full erasure). see bellow: " [0] A problem was encountered when opening the files for this event. Please note the error code: 07" These errors CANNOT be recovered by any amounts of reboot or anything else for that matter. The fact is, when this corruption occurs, your PVR will show youre available recording time as 25 hours High Definition, which essentially means it's empty; and this, even tough your shows still show up in the playlist... = They are gone forever. Update. Just finished watching all the shows that were corrupted. There were a couple of shows that didn't have the 07 error that were pointing to shows I deleted several days ago. When I finally deleted all the shows I only had 20.5 hours available. A power switch reboot later and I'm back to 25.
Till the next time this damned thing screws up... |

I have seen similar problems when the disk fills up or is corrupted for some other reason. In my experience, "07" errors will continue until the disk is reformatted. This would be an ideal time to reformat (when the disk is empty.)

I just got hit with the "|0|...07" error as well. Every recording prior to Monday night is missing but still in the PVR list. This is just too weird to be a coincidence. I wonder if EV is targeting PVRs with ECMs and zapping paying customers instead. This reeks of incompetence on the part EV. I am pissed since some of those recordings are from TMN or HDNET and cannot be redone or are part of a series. Why would this bug suddenly show up for so many people at the same time? It's not like the firmware is new. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:

I dunno, the same crap happened to me not that long ago shortly after the last firmware update. I lost everything since I was forced to reformat.
