This is my first post to the forum so please be gentle. I have an old DSR 401 MN at the cottage that lately cuts out after an hour or so of viewing and then stay out for at least a day.
I have ordered 2 new recievers during the latest sale but they still have not arrived. Does anyone have any ideas as to repair options because I want to keep this one @ the cottage and the people *choice use there are completely unreliable. Thanks in advance, B32. |

Simplest thing to do is probably one of these options...
a) bring the receiver home from the cottage. If it cuts out at home, you know the receiver is defective. Call Star Choice for a replacement (if you have more than 1 receiver on your account). b) bring a working receiver from home to the cottage. If it works, you know the location is OK and its the receiver that is the problem. If it starts cutting out too, you know there is a problem with the dish or cabling. |

After checking with my local installer, the old unit is toast. I asked him if he knew of an envrionmentally friendly way to dispose of it and he wasn't sure.
Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks, B32. |

I'm using an old 410 as a door stop. It is the most environmentally friendly way I found to dispose them.

Some provinces, like Alberta have electronic recycling centres were this type of product, computers & TV. etc are safely disposed and the raw materials recycled.
Until recently many electronics contains very harmful ingredients. |

If you have a multi-receiver fee on your *choice invoice, why don't you just phone them and get them to replace the unit?
My cottage unit did the same and they sent a replacement unit to my home. The policy is to send back the old one in the box. I think there was a small fee for delivery.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but they will consider the old unit for free replacement under their multi reciever policy? I'm trying to search the website for the details or maybe just call them.

yeap, they will replace your old unit. Give them a call and they will send you a replacment unit (refurbished). You just have to send the old one after you receive the new one

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on a DSR401?

It should be options 6-7-7-8-8-6 and then enter to confirm.
