Thanks guys.
I live in an apartment over top of a cafe.
2 story, flat roof. I am getting ready to get some kind of dish set up here.
But it is a rental, and as such I asked about putting a small dish up and they said no
problem.
Now a couple of months later I am talking to a guy who does BUD here.
I tell him where I am and so on, blah blah blah. Shooting the breeze more or less.
Well I decide that being it is a flat roof, and this guy knows what he is doing, and how
to deal with the Allentown Association ( I am in a historical area )
He will provide a letter of guaranty regarding the installation, that it will not damage
anything, blah blah blah.
I have renters insurance, so why not?

I figure I have nothing to lose by going back to my landlord and asking if I can do
this instead? To my surprise, the answer is yes
So I tell the landlord if I do this i will want to sign a long term lease. He says no
problem.
But I add, I want new carpet, and a new fridge in exchange for a long term lease.
Again he says ok

I am very lucky in that I am in a corner unit above a cafe with only one neighbor to
worry about. And they are young and don't care about my system.
I have never had a complaint in 6 months, despite having a kick ass system including
an SVS sub.
So i think i have found a perfect spot as far listening to music and movies go.
Sometimes very loud, no complaints.
Reason enough to want to sign a long term lease right?
And now I am allowed to put a BUD up.
My questions now are how long to sign for? 2,3,5, or however many years I would
like according to the landlord.
It's very odd in that, if he were at my place listening to music or movies, he would be
telling me to turn it down.
But because of location location location I can get away with it.

So now I have to start doing my BUD homework. But I gotta believe it makes sense, since I am allowed to, and I have a 64" Pioneer widesreen.

Yes - you won't regret it. Don't forget that both 4DTV and SC use the same Motorola HD decoder. The HDD201 is cheaper to buy in Canada because it is subsidized by Star Choice (called HDD200 in US)

Follow up questions that I am not having luck finding, despite all the info out there. I may be an idiot

1. Can I get CBC on C Band? You know, Leaf games on Saturday.

2. If no, I may also get a Star Choice set up.
But can I then feed a 4DTV and *C signal from a 401 simultaneously into the 201 HD Decoder?
Or do I buy some kind of switch?

3. I see the NFL Sunday Ticket is available, will Center Ice ever be?

4. To follow.

Last year, the CBC announced that they are no longer gonna be braodcasting on C-Band. I assume they never back down (though people complained).

Default CBC

Except for an occassional analog feed (usually The National), CBC is long gone from CBand.

CTV is on DVB FTA, though (yeah, I know that doesn't help the puck fan).

How about the FOX Sports package?
I have read conflicting things about it.
If i subscribed to it, would I get all the action? Let's say the leafs are playing a team whose signal is carried by FOX Sports.
For arguments sake let's say Phoenix. The game is on FOX Sports west.
Do I get to see it in Buffalo?
If no then a *C sub is a must.

To get Fox Sports, you need a 4DTV unit. They aren't on analog CBand, only digital.

There is also some Fox Sports on FTA/DVB, but that could end at any time. That's the nature of that beast.

No blackouts by zip code as per MLB, NBA, NHL regulations

If the Leafs are playing, you probably will see it. If it's the Sabres vs Phoenix; you will be blacked out.

Last question, for today anyway

Am I an idiot for thinking of buying into BUD at this?

I am going to look at some stuff today, but I wonder, should I just shut up and buy the DTV HD and *C system and be done with it?

Or is the picture gonna be worth any extra hassle that may go into getting involved with BUD?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Viva La Cuba!!!!
