Looking for opinions on weather the extra 2 speaker are worth the expense and effort, placing the speakers may be a challenge as the optmum seating position will mean the extra 2 rear speakers will be placed about 10 feet or so away from the seating.I am thinking the sound may be lost sitting that far away.
Thanks |

The distance of any speaker can be overcome by a simple increase in volume, and an appropriate delay setting. Most higher end receivers will have an auto set-up mode that takes alot of the guess work out of the speaker set-up.
I want to do 7.1 in my HT, even though it would mean the rears would be directly overhead. I don't think it would be a big problem though, in either case. If you have the funds to go 7.1, I say do it.

7.1 is incredible. i picked up a pair of Energy rc50 towers and put my paradigm studio 20's to the rear with my b&w dm302's staying at the side and all i can say is wow. i threw in lotr special edition with dts 6.1 and it blew me away. when you can add sound coming directly from behind you, it makes the home theatre experience so much more emersive.
