Default Simple solution for a complex set up?

Hmmm, interesting but complex. I am very limited in the time I have to sepnd on this so I'll probably go for an antenna that will only pick up the local stations and when I have more time configure something more elaborate. I guess something like the Terk 55 should do the job for the time being.

By the way, I'm stuck installing a roof top antenna because all the tuning and television hardware is in the basement.

Thanks

No way, not a Terk 55!!! Don't waste your money on that baseball bat. Check the Indoor Antenna thread for other options.

Default Stuck with an outdoor antenna

I can't use an indoor antenna as all my hardware is in teh basement. So I need to install an utdoor. I guess the 4221 would be a good substitute to the 4228. On the other hand, what would be an interseting antenna that would also cover VHF.

Outdoor is always better than indoor. I've put a list of antenna options in this post:

http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/for...31&postcount=1

You are in the Metro/Urban section for just the local Montreal stations but for Plattsburg and Burlington you'd need the antennas I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Default Ottawa - Anyone getting Watertown regularly?

Hi, new to the group, live in Ottawa. Using an OTA module in my ExpressVu model 6000 receiver and a 4-bay in the attic. PBS from Norwood and Plattsburgh generally solid, but since WNPI changed channel ID to 23 my receiver doesn't tune it in properly (hangs for several seconds, then jumps to analog 18). Anyway, glad to see that there's a place to talk about OTA DTV in the Ottawa area. Anyone getting Watertown regularly (WWTI and WWNY)?

Thanks, Dave

Do you get Watertown at all?

My moto 100 does not have any problems with WNPI with ID 23.

Not usually, but have on several occasions. My antenna is in the attic, and pointed between Mannotick and Norwood (I'm in Stittsville), so it's not really pointed at Watertown. I'm hoping that a pair of CM4228s on the roof this spring and WWNY going full power (not sure when that is) will improve the situation. The bonus with WWNY is that 7.1 is HD CBS and 7.2 is SD FOX.

I've emailed the enigneer at WNPI and he tells me that nothing has changed at their transmitter recently, but they've got a field engineer going out this Frdiay to "fix a couple of small bugs".

Do you have a pair of CM4228s in your attic right now? Did you get those in Ottawa? I need to upgrade my good ol' YAGI...

Nope, just a 4-bay Radio Shack antenna for now. I'm getting the itch to get a pair of CM4228 antennas and mount them in a vertical stack about 10-15 feet above the roof. I'm assuming that I'll mail-order them, or take a drive to Ogdensburg one weekend.

Something's not right with WNPI-DT. It's showing up as channel 23-1, and no video/sound. WCFE on channel 38 comes in fine, and I just noticed that test transmitter on 67 is back up. Hopefully whatever they tweak tomorrow will fix this up.

Or you could drive west to Trenton Distributors if you like.

I contacted Trenton around Dec. 2005, and they were very explicit in saying they are wholesale only; no sales to consumers.

I have to debug my setup, as I get Norwood and Plattsburgh all the time, but cannot get anything from Watertown, and I haven't seen the test transmitter signal yet. Maybe I have something blocking me to the sw...

When this white stuff melts, I might raise the antenna by another 20' (from 40').

Or maybe what I need is to connect a 9200 to my setup... Does it need to talk to a sat in order for the OTA to work? Or just be activated (somewhere else)?

I'm a Star Choice person myself.

Default OTA Results from East of Ottawa to West of Montreal? (ON/QC)

I'm curious, since we would be in the "deep fringe", if someone actually tried catching something else than the test transmitter from Manotick?

There is no sticky for this section...

Thanks,
