Default [Videotron] SA3100 VCR Commander...

I'm using a SA Explorer 3100 and I would like to use the VCR Timer thingy. Where can I get(buy) the VCR Commander module?

Thnx and I am glad to be here...got Illico Digital cable Friday and I am so happy with it

Same place you bought the STB. I don't think they're readily available elsewhere, however, the VCR commander only does so much - you have to leave your VCR on channel "0" (or whatever the line in channel is). There are some other issues to be aware of. Type "VCR + commander" into the site's search engine (without the quotes) to see the threads where it has been discussed. I believe they are about $25.

The VCR commander basically turns on the VCR, says "record" and then turns off the VCR. If you left the VCR on another channel, nothing gets recorded. This means if you want to use the VCR to record analogue channels on its own, you can't do that because then the VCR would be left on the wrong channel.

I set the timer on the STB and on the VCR - two steps, but it allows me full flexibility.

57,

Just a note. With the Explorer 2200 STBs and the IR Blaster you have the option of picking the input you want the VCR to use. You pick from Channel 3/4, Audio-Video, or S-video. I assume this is true for all models.
