You are also making a comparison of a digital signal on an anolog TV.

Having just ditched my Sony KP46WT500 which would be identical in quality to your 57 inch I can honestly tell you where to culprit lies.

On my newly acquired, Panasonic 50 inch DLP connected via HDMI to DVI I can honestly tell you that it is the most vivid experience I have ever seen. I have done minimal tweaking of the TV; so far only utilizing the basic THX optimizer tool.

I have no doubt that the 4DTV and perhaps even C-band is better PQ but when viewed on a digital set I bet the gap between all of them are minimal to non-existant.
