I'm looking at getting a new tv but I am not sure which one to choose. It has to be 47"-53" and I have a soft budget of around $1300. Its for a room that has plenty of natural lighting. It would be used a lot for sports and gaming. It needs to have at least 3 HDMI ports. I know that plasmas for the most part have the best picture quality but it doesn't work well in bright rooms. I've also heard that the newer plasmas have fixed this problem. I'd like the tv to have great picture quality. Things like audio and remotes and stuff like that do not matter. 3D is not a necessity but would be nice to have. I've been looking at the 50" Panasonic TC-P55ST50 and the Samsung PN51e550. Any other suggestions? Are these good quality TV's? Are there better quality TV's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I got an LG 55LW5700 (it's 55"). Very happy with it. It's a 3D capable smart TV and it uses their higher-end panel. With a bit of firmware tweaking I was able to up-version it to the next higher model and enable some higher-end features. I got it for $1150 at Dell and I see they don't have it any more. But they have many other LG models in 47" and 55" sizes.
The newer (2012) Cinema 3D sets from LG have a feature for playing multi-user games where each player (of two) sees the full screen instead of playing on a split-screen (using special pair of polarized glasses and taking advantage of the 3D capabilities). Interesting. |
