Acer77 does the old lineup PDF give you the information you are looking for? This looks like the listing that came out just after CFRN went digital OTA. (probably the last station in all of Canada that switched LOL!) Prior to this, CTV out of Toronto was available in the HD Plus pack.

Yes...thanks I have seen that PDF before but what I really was looking for was information on pricing. I know I can get that by phoning (waiting)...but I do think Shaw must have some reason why they have eliminated all the Legacy pricing information from their site. A new customer viewing the shaw site would assume that their only choice is the SPP ( personal tv, best of hd etc). Thanks for that link..at least that is a start. I know many people have told me that they think the Shaw site is the most confusing they have ever seen and I have to agree.

Can't you look at your buddy's bill to see the pricing information? Or try archive.org.

**edit** here is some info in the way back machine from 2009. http://web.archive.org/web/200902281...ngPackages.htm

Default BBC world

Bowmah - thanks for the reminder on BBC world. I had legacy full basic (incl tier 1-3) when BBC was moved into Tier one (legacy). Later I dropped the extra tiers & added HD Plus (as many did) because once you watch HD hard to watch those SD channels. So I haven't had BBC world for a while - although obviously didn't notice as rarely watch SD anymore. I did enjoy it when I had it but not worth it to me to start adding those tiers again.

@northshoresteve In order to get world news that is not US biased, BBC news is the only way to go. Watching CNN and other US news media report on world affairs is like pulling teeth.

Most companies charge about $10 for their news package and most offer pretty much the same inside of that Package (2/3HD) for comparisons sake in the industry in Canada. Additionally we also have had Sun news SD and BNN in HD for quite a while now. We didn't just double in price for the sake of it. A big misconception is that the provider owns all the channels and is responsible for pricing them with that in mind. Those carriage costs and costs of delivering the service can go up.

Default HBO Outage

For customers with the Movie Central/TWN + HBO subscription just a heads up that HBO West and East feeds will have a scheduled maintenance outage on Tuesday, August 21st from 2:00AM to 4:00AM MST. This will impact both Movie Central and TMN subscribers.

I totally agree with your statement about the good value of the News Package and it works well for me. One thing, I know it has been commented on many times but I dont understand why we still have no CBC Newsworld HD. I mean this is Canada's network. Any chance of this channel arriving soon? The SD is now in letterbox which is a nice improvement though.

@Acer77 I'll be honest in that I haven't heard anything on CBC Newsorld HD recently so I am not sure what the plans are there. Personally I think it would be a good add for sure. If I hear more and get the OK too we will post more on it.

Many thanks for the update Shaw Champ. With the addition of that channel alone that would raise the value of the Personal TV package from good to excellent in my opinion.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I had a question. I wanted To switch to Shaw as I'm currently on Telus. I've always had Shaw internet (10+ years) and Ive heard the HD quality is better on shaw.

I'm currently about to enter the final year of my Optik contract (September).

My question is does shaw have some type of service where I can swap over to Shaw and they take me out of my contract?
