I don't believe so. I'm running a little test to see if I can determine just how long it is now.

Default New Info on Standby and Buffer

It looks like there is about a 30min delay before the 12hr timeout starts then you get the message that it will shut off in 15min unless you press OK.

At least they have increased this, now we just need them to make is programmable for those who want it. It's this sort of thing that really should be infinitely programmable from nothing to whatever you want.

EDIT: This is incredible; The BUFFER goes back a full 12 hours! I could hardly believe it but this same channel shows content all the way back for 12 hours! Amazing!

Further edit: It's still going. I can back up to 12:46am this morning but I can't seem to record anything from back then. That's 14 hours plus right now. Incredible.

My buffer on an SD channel (the W Network) only goes back until 6am (nearly 2 hours). I checked another one and it's the same thing - 6am.

I just checked the bedroom TV and it will only go back 1:10 so I think the following that I posted in the Shaw beta community might be the explanation:

Quote:
I am one of those who has just discovered a seemingly endless buffer on my Gateway. I can go back over 34 hours right now. I am not entirely convinced that this is all 'buffer' as I have been recording the Olympics for my other half and it's this channel that is allowing me to go back that far. I can press 'Live' and then skip 'Back' all the way to 12:45am yesterday. When I checked it again this morning, that was over 34 hours.

Now, since a lot of this period is recording, perhaps this apparent 'buffer' is really not buffer and is just being pulled from the recordings. I can't be certain but there is definitely non-recorded content in between and at the very beginning that would seemingly be 'in the buffer'. I had plenty of room in my system as I was at only about 9% of the 1.5TB used when I started recording the Olympics. This will continue throughout the entire games so it will be interesting to see what happens when my significant other starts going through the recordings and deleting them as she is done with them. ...
She's starting to watch some of those recordings now and I've told her she can delete whatever she wants so I should know later today if that has any affect on the seemingly 'endless' buffer. I won't be surprised to find this is directly related to those recordings.

Well, there's no explanation for why the 'buffer' before the recordings was that far back but after watching and deleting the first 8 hours of Olympic recordings, that 'buffered' programming is gone and I can only move back to the point where the last deleted recordings left off, at 10am yesterday.

This would lead me to believe what I am experiencing is a direct result of the lengthy and consecutive recordings. I will explore this some more but I think the mystery is 'solved' now. It isn't as exciting as I had first thought, sorry.

Default 7.0.4 release update

The latest word is we should get the 7.0.4 code in the middle of August. Not great news but it is something. So, another 2 weeks to wait. This will conceivably push back all subsequent updates too. I guess the up side of this is Shaw will have that much more time to deal with any 'issues' they might find in any particular update and actually fix them before pushing them out to us. (right, like that would actually happen, so much for wishful thinking)

My source told me this update will happen next week so only 1 week to wait. I just hope it's really true because I can't wait any longer. I've seen the new features and I must say it's pretty cool

I guess we'll see who's sources are better, yours or mine. My sources still say the middle of this month. It would be nice if yours is right but I'm thinking mine are as they haven't steered me wrong yet. I think there will be another modem update that has to happen first and that will need to happen no later than next week if the actual update is going to be pushed out in the middle of the month. Maybe that's what your source is referring to?

Has anyone heard anything more on what network connectivity is enabled in 7.0.4? Jetranger, Cio-Pao or JohnnyCanuck?

Once this is enabled (officially supported or not, I don't care) I will be shovelling Shaw money.

Still hearing its enabled (full 2 way IP traffic from gateway to portal) from my source, but interested to hear what others are hearing!

Nothing has changed from what I have posted before so we will have to wait until we get it later this month to find out who's sources are correct/better.

I wonder if this means we will be getting the next round of updates as well on the ninth?

Just got word that this is a standalone update.
