The Digital fee is normal. Bell charges that too. But the HD fee is ridiculous. As for Videotron pricing I think it is ridulculous and have my own issues with videotron which I posted in the Rant section.
Becuae Videotron is the number one provider of cable tv in Quebec they take their customers for granted and take advantage of them. They forget that they can easily lose customers. Nothing is forever. Motorola was once the # 1 cell phone maker, than came Nokia and now it is Samsung. If Videotron do not change their business practices they will lose many customer to Bell FIBETV especially since Videotron can not makes those commercials like they did depcting the unreliability of Satellite. Because FIBETV is a whole different animal. I used to have Satellite with Bell than left them because they were too pricey. Now I am back with them becaue they have better prices. Signed up in 2008 and am on the old theme packs. Getting back to Videotron, If they want to stay ahead they should first change their pricing on their a la carte options and make it more competitive. $32 for 30 channels is too expensive. Also they can add a few more channels in their basic package. Add LCN, and the American Networks like Bell does. They should give customers more options like theme packs like they once had long time ago.Something that Bell had too but let go sometime ago. And VT should also change their pricing on the ethnic channels as well as the Movie Network. Too expensive IMHO. |

I got the mega+tmn, everywhere in canada, super écran, superstations, hd, oasis and discovery world. so it cost me 172.00$ a month, I don't mind paying that because I don't drink, don't smoke, stay home, so for me its worth it and beside, i don't have any tv lost like satellite....

Besides Videotron will feel the heat now that Bell FIBETV is here. Shawdirect has ways of building your plans that are cheaper than Bell and their signal is more reliable. If Cogeco would offer better pricing they could get more customers. Plus now Colba is offering IPTV. There are now more options than before. Videotron is not alone in the Quebec market. Videotron profited greatly when Bell Satellite was the only option after Look TV went bankrupt. At that time Bell had crazy prices and tons and tons of conditions when you would sign up with them. But not anymore. When I had LookTV a guy from Videotron knocked on my door and asked me if I wanted to go with Videotron. They daid Looktv was going bankrupt. I still can't beleive that they had the gall to do that. Eventually they went out of business 3 years later. But I hate the way Videotron goes about things including how they bill you way in advance. My Bell bill comes out to $79. With Videotron it would cost $104. And I still would not get Showcase West. and other West coast feeds. Yes there is rain fade. But Videotron also has outages too.And sometimes it's just not tv but several services. |

Been with videotron for 20 years. With the bundle discount(have Internet with them) and the 12 month discount they gave me here are my details.
Basic+15 channels+tmn+super stations+tsn/sportsnethd hd = $61.93. All terminals are paid for. Same package on bell with bundle discounts and the discounts for a year to join would be: Basic+15 channels+favorites (to get cnn as it is not part of a la carte)+ tmn+ hd+rental of second terminal would be $73.04. So for me videotron is less expensive. I realize bell would give me more stations but do not really need them. But they would give me more hd stations which is the only reason I would contemplate changing if fibe was available in my area. |

proggy: I imagine your point was to complain about the little miscellaneous extra fees found on your bill, so this should help you feel better, or maybe not.
I only want and watch English HD channels (even though I am French Canadian) so I have tried to cut the service to the bare minimum but with the idea of getting as many HD channels as possible and even then I pay $74 (+txs) for the TV portion of my bill. I find no point in getting Super Stations, US or Canadian Time shift since they are not available in HD. With Internet (no phone system) total monthly bill is $152 (with txs). So it's Basic + Videotron Classic (for my computers with TV tuners) + 30 channels and TMN with the monthly subscription to Movie Entertainment + Extra fees + Internet and -(minus) fake credits. With this service I have access to 17 wanted HD channels. Now this is going to melt your brain. I also pay $146 for Bell Fibe (soon to go up to $181 when my two year special contract is over and I have to pay for the, now free, rented PVR and Terminal). What's that you say? Yup, two different full services. With Bell I have TV, Internet and Home phone. The TV portion is: Basic + TMN + Super Channels + Pick Four HD + Time Shift + [PVR and Terminal rented] (free for now) this will soon be $101 (+txs). For this price I have access to 48 HD channels (considering some double/triple and more because of the time shift options). Many of these HD channels are NOT available on Videotron. Total monthly bill for everything will soon be $333 and am I actually not complaining. This is what I do, I watch TV. Why both? I watch lots and lots of TV, and not one second of anything SPORT related. Even writing the "S" word made me through up in my mouth a little. I want and need to be able to record 5 HD shows at one time. No way of doing this with either one of the services. I used to have Videotron alone and used Three DVD recorders and three terminals to record SD content but now that I am retired I want ONLY HD content so the DVD solution is no longer a good choice. Now that I have combined I can watch all I want without having to make choices. I record everything and choose later. As for the hidden fees, both have ridiculous fees. Both know there is nothing I can or even will do about it. They have me by the b... Also, the structure of the bill gives them both (VT and Bell) a chance to make small incremental fee hikes that seem little but add up over time. Example, last year I got an annoying letter from VT stating that for "My benefit" (thank you Videotron), in order to get a continuing and better service, my monthly Basic service would go up JUST $1.00, aren't they nice. The next month I got the exact same letter but now for the "Internet" portion, again for "MY Benefit". Not to leave well enough alone, the following month the $1.00 hike was for TMN. Oh well, at least I know they love me a lot since they keep giving me better services, hum! What can you do? Cancel the service? NO TV, are you kidding me? My head would explode. Bell does the same thing, don't be fooled. They also have ridiculous charges. My phone bill has a Touch Tone charge for $3. Really? Touch Tone in 2012. Also, since I have the most basic telephone line/service, if I make a long distance call I am charged a one time fee, (for the month), a $3.50 charge for the "right" to make the call plus the cost of the long distance call itself. Thank you Bell. Rant over. So, are you still annoyed at your $3.03 access fee? I hope I made you feel a little bit better about your bill. It's not that bad. P. S. Wink to julie_rose. I understand your way of thinking, other than the drinking that is, ha! ha! |

I know $6 for THE HD AND DIGITAL service is not a lot of money but when i feel i`m being stolen from i react.
Videotron did not pay to make those channels digital and HD ,they just carry them, The channels themselves paid millions for the conversions which they should recoup the costs with advertisements. I tried cutting the cord here in Quebec City but OTA sucks and even more now that the CBC has gone off the air for good. Yup cable has got us by the B.... ALRIGHT!!! By the way I am also A tv lover and don`'t watch sports either but have varied interest in channels everything from Nickelodeon to Discovery Science. |

P1's bill reflect current prices. I have see others here with lower prices which means they are on older plans.
My dad has basic at $19.99 and 15 channelas at $21 My dad got the other options recently so they are the same price as in P1x44r's case. |

P1x44r, this makes more sense. Mine is the same; when I check online it is the actual posted rates they have on their site but your bill is what you pay. If you have extra discounts like I do they never show in my online screen only on my actual billing invoice.
Hope this makes sense. |
