Hi all: Here's a quick reminder of our policy on quoting messages.
Please do not quote an entire post. Rather, use only a short excerpt to help put your own message in context. Additionally, please do not quote the post immediately preceding your own as it makes threads harder to read. Thanks for your understanding and your co-operation. |

I thought as a Shaw friend, we got a bump in bandwidth. I still see 400GB in the Shaw portal for BB50. What is up?

Get this, you have to MANUALLY chat concierge to get this added on. And if you are a double play customer, it's only +25GB, not 50GB.

I noticed the same thing back in March and it still hasn't been updated, i.e., the stated "Included Usage" on my "View Usage" page still doesn't take into account the extra 25 GB I should be getting for being a double-play customer.
I also did the chat thingy and got this reply: "We have retrieved your account information. While Shaw Friends does supply you with an additional 25GB of data, it is not reflected in Customer Center as of yet. Our engineers are working to integrate the Shaw Friends benefits fully with Customer Center." In other words, the extra goodness was already on my account, so it wasn't necessary to contact them to get it added on. So should or shouldn't you contact them? If anyone has any doubts, it took me no time at all to connect via Concierge Chat. |

I don't see it either. I've been using 500gb-700gb on bb50. Shaw hasn't been harassing me about it, so there's been no need to worry about the extra 50gb's yet.
I'd probably switch to bb100 if it didn't mean messing with my currently bundling (which means my bill would go up more than the 10 or 20 dollars it should for a bb100 package). Shaw is supposed to rollout an automatic bump up program. I'm guessing they'll need to figure out the shaw friends gb's before implementation. |

My bandwidth upgrade has been showing for a few months now. I have 500GB with BB100 and my limit shows 550GB with the upgrade.

I have a question reguarding the lifetime warrenty they don't offer anymore.
I have it because i was lucky enough to sign up early but am sick of Shaw and the constant sound drop outs so i'll be canceling my service very soon but i was wondering if i sold or transfered my gateway to someone who also has the lifetime warrenty do they get that for the gateway i sell or are they out of luck? Since it's Shaw i'd expect them to be out of luck but sometimes Shaw does the right thing and surprises me so i figured i'd ask. I can't wait to cancel and have them ask why and explain it's because you refused to fix the sound drop outs and told me to cancel if i didn't like it. Will be a fun little chat with how crappy a service they provide. |

Idea: add more preregistered devices especially to High Speed Light which only has one (1) device, please.
I have grown to appreciate the Shaw Exo WiFi hot spots. In Vancouver there is often one where I am waiting for a bus or hanging out. We have 2 cell phones & a wifi only tablet. I would think most families have more. Even though the data used is added to your Shaw account usage, High Speed Light only has one (1) slot for preregistered devices for Shaw open WiFi. Why not make it 3 like most of the Internet plans ? |

@ShawnB - Yes, if they had the grandfathered lifetime warranty on their account the new equipment they purchased would also be covered.
Also - I'm sorry to hear things still haven't been resolved regarding your sound drops. If you're okay with it I'd like to try and resolve the issue again for you. I know we haven't been able to correct the issue yet, but I'd like to give it one more shot - let me know. @northshoresteve - That's a great suggestion Steve, I've passed that along to the proper channels. Cheers.

Me: just curious about the extra 25gb data being on shaw friends. how do i know if it's been added to my included usage? It doesn't seem to be added when I look at the "view usage" screen Shaw Rep: It's something that's going to be applied automatically in the near future. We don't have any hard dates at this time but it should be soon Me: added to the view usage screen, or added to my account? Shaw Rep: Well, added to your account which will of course show up on the usage as well Me: so shaw states that shaw "friends" have extra 25gb data, but in reality we don't? that can't be right can it? Shaw Rep: You don't need to worry about it as we're not even monitoring the data right now. We're still upgrading everything, and once we do monitor you will have the extra space So - This guy is saying that he can't add the extra bandwidth because it's not physically possible? Weird. Also they don't monitor usage yet? Is this true? Last edited by Dr.Dave; 2012-09-07 at 07:57 PM. Reason: Removed Shaw rep number |

I think its fairly true.
Between this forum and the broadbandreports forum I've only heard of one person complaining about shaw harassing them about bandwidth use. If they were harassing people I think we'd here more about it. I think Shaw is still getting their ducks in a row. They haven't rolled out to the automatic upgrade thing for broadband either. I would imagine they'll have to resolve the extra bandwidth issue before turning on the autoupgrade tool. I would agree.. Shaw is still figuring it out. |
