Default Pioneer VSX-1014TX Receiver Frozen

Hey guys. I have a Pioneer VSX-1014TX receiver. Was watching tv the other day and then tried to change things on my receiver by my receiver is frozen. I can still hear the sound but I can't change anything. My volume is left on the setting that was last set by me before it became frozen. But the screen on the receiver looks like all the lights and words are on and all lit up (i.e. Video 1 and Video 2 words are lit up, with everything else). I tried to unplug the receiver, but when i plug it back in, it doesn't go into standby, but just turns on and becomes frozen like described above. The MCACC is not flashing, so the fix for that (ENTER+VIDEO 2) didn't work. I cannot put it into Standby Mode either to do a factory reset. It automatically turns on when I plug it back in.

Basically, i can still hear sound, all of the receiver display is lit up, and none of the buttons do anything.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

You didn't mention how long you left it unplugged. I would leave it unplugged over night and maybe unplug some of your inputs and try it in the morning.

Hi. I left it unplugged overnight. I dont have any video plugged into it. Just speaker wire, subwoofer via av cable, and 2 optical cables.

In the troubleshooting section of the OM there is usually a button press sequence which resets the AVR to factory defaults. If that doesn't work you'll need to take it in for service. If the reset works, you'll probably need to re-enter any customization you did, including MCACC

Try holding down ON plus TONE while plugging it in. The requirement to enter standby is only so that when you you do press ON it does not turn it off. Since your AVR will be off (unplugged) it should satisfy that requirement.
