Just found 2 new channels on Halifax.

The Pet Network(157) and Baby TV(158) Free preview until Oct. 17th.

Are these the channels that are in demand. I think not.

When is eastlink going to add some channels that people want, like National Geographic Wild.

From what I've seen regarding NatGeo Wild, we are probably not missing much. Who knows how much Shaw wants for this too ($$$). I'm speculating of course.

I'd still like to see Weather Network HD and of course the Bell Media channels. Yeah, I know beating a dead horse.

We've had Pet network here for over a year now but Baby TV is new on channel 162 for us. These channels are probably very cheap.

Also according to Facebook, Cartoon Network HD is now on for us on Ch. 751.

Nat Geo Wild is an amazing channel, but they have too many repeats, and not enough programming, but since it's new it will take time to build the brand and acquire more programming. Rogers got this channel almost immediately after it launched.

Sorry, let me rephrase that...we are probably not missing much on NatGeo Wild right now.

Baby TV is actually on 311. They said on FB it was 162. Won't be stopping at that channel much! I can confirm that CNHD is on 751. I would have figured they would have added the older HD channels like ABC Spark first...oh well I guess.

I was seriously hoping for National Geographic Wild as well, rather than a couple of SD channels that have no interest to me whatsoever. Also, I sure hope that Eastlink can come up with some way of offering The Weather Network in HD.

There has still been no decision on the Bell Media situation yet from the CRTC. I sure hope that when Eastlink sees the terms of the proposed agreement, that they will not back away and refuse to carry them.

By the way, CN HD has been available in Halifax on channel 751 for over a week now.

There s still no decision from the CRTC regarding the Bell Media situation, and I was hoping to see one this week. I guess there is always the chance of a decision tomorrow.

The Eastlink newsletter was interesting today. It mentioned "more exciting channels" launching this summer, no idea what is planned.

Also, Eastlink is planning to carry Olympic coverage on the on demand service, and it will actually be from CTV, a Bell Media service. Could this mean a glimmer of hope that things are improving between Eastlink and Bell Media, or am I simply grasping at straws for any sign of good news?

Not in NL but I don't have a baby & my pet watches baseball so I'm missing that much. :-)

Now this is something I would enjoy.

I was thinking the same thing as David when I read about the Olympics on demand from CTV. Could it be?????

The CTRC is busy this week with the CBC analog shutdown and the LPIF thing yesterday. They are so overworked (yeah right). I figure we will see what we are waiting for tomorrow. I don't know if it will be anything that we can decipher, but it might more time before EastLink says a peep about it or *poof* 10 or so new HD channels.

All we can do speculate about what this summer holds.

BTW, those two new HD Super Sports channels? Are they showing the same thing like the other ones do? They are not in my guide yet and won't be for another month or two. Just curious.

I've noticed that a while ago games on 470's & 480's are also in the 490's.

Even if the deal goes through, denben73, I should say that I am not expecting to see the Bell Media channels "instantly", although I would love to see them miraculously appear overnight. First of all, Eastlink will have to decide if the terms of the deal are "acceptable", then decide if, and how many, of the Bell Media channels they will carry. I am sure this will take, you guessed it, even more time.

Part of the reason for my skepticism is that Rogers reached a deal with Bell early this year (or possibly even late last year), and it is only now, some 6 months later, that the Bell channels are finally appearing on Rogers, and only on Rogers Ontario, at that.

As far as I can tell, this is a list of the Bell Media HD channels that are broadcasting now, which Eastlink does not carry. Although it would be aking for the moon to think that Eastlink would ever carry all of them, it would be nice to see the majority of them. Please correct me if my list is wrong, or if I have left any out.

Space HD
Bravo HD
Comedy HD.
E! HD
CTV News Network HD
Discovery HD
Investigation Discovery HD
Discovery Science HD
Animal Planet HD
RDS2 HD (French) Eastlink doesn't carry the SD version of this one either.

I am not sure if BNN (business news) is broadcasting in HD yet.

The CRTC has ruled in favor of Bell Media regarding the arbitration and ordered Eastlink to sign the Bell Media final offer affiliation agreements by 25 July 2012.

See this thread to discuss the details:
