Has anyone heard of any further news on the transition of low power station CFTV Leamington, from analog to digital. Have searched the CRTC site, but was unable to get any information.

Does anyone know if Global is planning any changes for the Paris transmitter?

There has been no indication from Global that any changes are proposed for the Paris transmitter.

Default CFTV34, and Paris Transmitter CHWI update

I have been working with CFTV34, and they tell me that they have ordered the digital transmitter, but not given the go ahead yet for multiplexing I will let you know more about this when it goes through

Also the Paris Transmitter, I have been talking to the VP Of shaw Media, I think they want to correct Ottawa first. 29 Oil Springs is scheduled to go this year, in fact, they have already got the go ahead, and they are waiting for the transmitter.

One other thing about CHWI 16, incase anyone was curious, I got this email from them last night

Quote:
I can answer some of your concerns regarding the CHWI_HD DTV 16 transmitter.

I had completed a software upgrade to the transmitter (most now are Software defined radios (SDR)) to correct problems with some tv receivers in the start of June. No change in output power has been approved by the CRTC, therefore power is the same as the last approved change in Nov 2011.

If there are any questions or concerns please let us know.

Thank you and have a good week.

I wonder if this update will also be done with Paris? As I've also seen some issues on some tuners with the Paris PSIP.

As of today, ION has permanently made the switch to RF50! They are still broadcasting on RF31, as well, with a crawl to tell OTA viewers they need to re-scan!

Smile cbc analog shutdown/the bright side!

Is it just me or is anyone else looking forward to the July 31 shutdown of cbc analog transmitters on ch 23 and 53. I am only 6 miles from the Byron tower and having two strong analog channels has a negative impact on my otherwise digital setup. Partly my fault for going with a cm 7777 preamp but it's on a 30 foot tower and I have no desire to take it down or scale it so the preamp is staying for now. Besides reducing general overload the shutdown of 23 should improve the tropo reception of erie,pa wjet 24 and wfxp 22 as well as allow ion cleveland tropo reception on 23. I'm also wondering if the shutdown of cbc kitchener on 29 will improve my reception of oil springs. I'm using a cm4221hd which allows fairly strong signal reception from the back. I'm hoping to see some improvement on global rf 29, which could be critical when they switch to digital. It would be nice to have cbc hd but if I have to choose between analog or nothing I will take the latter. Just my two cents...

Default WPXD/W48AV

It's good to get WPXD in every direction now.

Also, W48AV has been issued a construction permit to convert to digital on RF25, move to Southfield, and boost power to 15kW. I'm assuming this will be sold soon. The FCC maps show a great signal for most of the metro area, plus Windsor.

Bark64, I agree with your statements. CBC has no intention of converting any more transmitters to digital, and with the analog transmission end-of-life, the shutdown will allow better reception of other OTA channels - and the London-area sure needs it!

Like many others last year, I would have like to have seen CBC convert CBLN-TV in London to digital, but that is not going to happen.

Hopefully Global will receive their digital transmitter antenna soon, so the transition of CIII-TV-29 can take place sooner rather than later. I look forward to viewing CIII-DT-29 channel 29 in HD in London, Ontario - hopefully they will also send more signal towards the city, as the analog is either VERY snowy or doesn't come in at all for me. Over the past few months, I find CTV-TV-3 (oil springs/sarina) analog channel 42 (whose transmitter is close-by CIII-TV-29) is much stronger and comes in clearer than ever before.

Yep alebowgm, WPXD rf50 has full EPG and everything. After only getting ION with tropo events for years, it's great to finally have a full time local signal now.
