Hi all,
We recently switched from sat to fibe. We also recieved a new tv. The tv is a couple year old toshiba 55" 120Hz. Also a couple year old panasonic SC-HT05 sound system. When I hook up fibe to the tv with hdmi or component the pic/sound is good thru the tv alone. However when I plug the optical cable from fibe to the sound system, the sound comes out before the picture. The sound stops but their mouths keep moving in fact if you don't mute the tv it's like there is an echo. It's very annoying. And almost not watchable. Some channels are worse than others. On the fibe box I tried switching from stereo to surround but not much difference. Any suggestions to solve this would be appreciated. Thanks! Terry |

Here's a post on the topic. Several things to try/check are listed there: You must mute the TV to avoid the echo.

Here's an update...
So in the back of the TV there is an optical out. But it's only stereo as far as I can tell. If I use the component RCA cables the sound goes out the optical. But if i switch to HDMI there is no sound from the optical (but the TV internal speakers will work)... maybe a limitation of the tv? When using the component video/sound and stereo optical out from the TV into the sound system the sound and video are synchronized When using the optical from the fibe receiver to the sound system its not synchronized Grrrr! On another note, when using HDMI, if I turn on the TV before the Fibe reciever I get a stoopid message on the TV ... "Unable to display video service over HDMI. HDCP integrity check failed (H1005)". then i turn off the receiver and the tv displays "Press select to watch tv" then I turn on the receiver and it works! I am using the fibe remote which is programmed for the tv as well. Maybe the processor in the tv is too slow...or maybe it's turining on the tv before the receiver? Thanks! terry |
