Default Feeds for Olympic Games

Hi guys,

Just got a Bell newsletter by email. Bell will carry the Olympic feeds (316 through 319 in HD), without commercials nor comments.

Enjoy!

That's a good news for me!

Just a reminder to you guys know that in order to view an Olympic feed, you will need to call Bell or hookup with a telephone line cable to the Bell Satellite TV receiver's telephone jack input. That way you would "purchase" an Olympic event for free at no cost.

I guess the Olympic feeds would also probably be on Bell Fibe TV, since it's only confirmed for Bell Satellite TV I think.

Sigh thats one thing we're sure gonna miss about BEV now that we had to switch to Shaw. We really liked those feeds before.

BTW can you still order PPV online? If so then folks who dont have their rcvrs hooked up and dont want to call Bell on the phone (you know who you are :-)) can order the free Olympics PPV online. It worked fine for us.

Anyone hear any more on this? Surprised we're getting closer and not more news on these. Bell just did a media release a few days ago, mentioning a mosaic channel to see what's covered on which channel, and there was no mention of commentator-free channels...?

Question

They did have the OLYMPIC Channels (391-395 SD) a week or so ago but they've appeared to be taken out of tthe IPG?

The Olympics haven't started yet. I'm sure once they start the channels will return.

True, except for Vancouver 2010 we knew about commentator-free channels a full month in advance with instructions on "how to order". Bell's promos going in are pretty mute on this... but still keeping fingers crossed.

Question

I'm slightly here. I was looking through the IPG and noticed 446(8PM EST) Monday-Today) TSN-A it says commercial free, tune into 316-319 in HD & 377-380 for SD.presently PPV/VU channels but most likely will be unscrambled. They also had 391-395 SD which where remaps of Sportnet,TSN,CTV,RDS & TVA and some in the 1000's range same as the SDS but in HD.

So are they going to have two sets of SD & two serat of HD feeds? One commercial free the other remaps?

Excellent... that's finally the confirmation I was looking for mcibus (info on channel 446).

Yes, Bell provided both commercial / commentator free as well as remaps of all olympic channels, so there was 2 sets in SD and 2 sets in HD.

Technically they start Wednesday morning when our Women's national soccer team plays Japan. TSN has the coverage... and no, according to the Bell IPG there is no other commercial/commentary-free coverage on PPV channels (including other soccer games on at the same time).

The blurb on the IPG (visible on TSN-A for some reason) for Channels 316-319 says live and commercial free. It says nothing about commentator free. I'm starting to think that Bell isn't going to give us what we all want. NO ANNOUNCERS!
