is it better to dvr a HD program, or a SD to vcr, one would think hd, but would it be compatable?
example: simpsons in sd and hd, which would be better to record to vcr |

oldschool HD to DVR is better than SD on VCR but if you have to use a VCR instead of a DVR then you have to use SD. Well you could tune to a HD channel but youd still have to use the SD output.

A VCR has roughly 240 lines of resolution vertically (unless it's S-VHS, which very few people have, in which case it's up to 400 lines). A PVR can do 1080i or 720P, which is 3-4 times the vertical resolution of a VCR, along with the same horizontal difference, so overall the HD picture is roughly 10+ times what you can record on a VCR. Nuff said?

If you could find a Beta Max player and some blank Beta tapes ... that would be like DVD quality ..
