I thought the whole idea of the music channels was to LISTEN, not to WATCH - so why are there now pictures? I had Classic Rock on for a bit over the weekend (when I am working in the kitchen with no one else home I like to put something on as background) - the TV used to go off, but not now. If they want to put these on the channels there should be an option to turn them off so people not watching the screen can still listen to the music and not waste the power.

There is no difference in power if you have an LCD. There is a difference if you have a plasma. If you're listening through an AVR/HTiB, turn the TV off.

The previous set up was very useful for listening to and discovering new music. The display included all the disc info and it could be blacked out. A really useful feature was the ability to recall the last 5 tracks. If you heard a track you liked you could recall the info and write it down for future purchase.

We have here a case of a music service that was implemented in a very useful way and then totally ruined.

PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO WHAT IT WAS!!!! I would like to start using this service again.

How was that accomplished on the TV? It's a feature I never found/used. The information regarding tracks is available on the Galaxie website for, I believe 24 hours if you ever need to look anything up.

With the current system, since the channels are now on QAM, they can be recorded and you can "rewind" to listen to and find out any previous track that was on that channel up to the buffer of 1 hour, or more if you actually record. Obviously provided you have a PVR.

Easy...Page up and down on remote. Displayed the last 5 tracks you tuned to.

Default Booooo, Galaxie Nature Changes

I usually listen to Galaxie Nature. Since the pictures were added, there are breakups in audio and the pictures displayed are regularly pixilated. It was fine before the change but not since. Has degraded my listening experience in a major way.

I noticed this yesterday on a few channels... the video is pretty pixelated...

IMHO they have ruined what was a useful informative service (specially the blues channel) for me. I've stopped tuning in.

I totally agree Khorn. I have stopped tuning in as well. Pity I really enjoyed Galaxie Nature.

Do Galaxie channels no longer work on 3200 STB's because of the new pictures? I am getting the Channel Not Available message on all of mine - I had not tried picking up those channels on the 3200 in a while. My 8642 and 4642 still get these channels.

They should still work. Try doing a power on reset of your stb.

They are now SDV channels. You must have a return signal issue on that STB, see the following FAQ and remove the offending upstream equipment (splitter, filter, bad cable, etc)

Yesterday Galaxie was down for a short time and the picture was not there some of the time. I see they have made some changes:

1. The song title, artist and album are up full time now
2. There is the album cover art on screen instead of those pictures they used to have. (when available)
3. The next song and artist are up full time
4. The channel number is shown on screen
5. There is some minor "advertizing" at the bottom of the screen.

The exit key doesn't blank the screen and the screen doesn't blank automatically after 5 minutes, but good to see some of our recommendations implemented.
