I suprised England is rated so high.I wasn't impressed with them at the Euro's.
They need younger legs.Gerrard is past his prime. Terry played well though..

There's no way England should be 4th, i'd say 8th tops.

England 4th ahead of Portugal and Italy is a joke. IMO 10th is about where they rank. Too much importance is placed on friendlies (which England seems to always win) vs. tournament results. IIRC England hasn't made it to a semi-final since 1996.

The FIFA rankings are based on results only not performance.
On that basis England didn't lose a game in the groups and won the friendly matches before then as well. The points for the ranking are done on a system that looks at match result, match status, strength of the opposition and the strength for the region. Points are given for the result based on if its a straight win, penalty shootout win, draw or a loss. A loss in a penalty shootout for the loser is pretty much the same as drawing where as for the winner they get an extra point with 2 points awarded instead of the usual 3 for a win. As these were the Euros they are deemed important matches (x 3 on the multiplier) so England would obviously score points over the likes of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay who obviously couldnt take part. The regional strength of UEFA is the highest, joint level with the South Americans so its easy to see why based on a point system alone England are quite high even though we played terrible. :/ Sad to see Brazil move out the top 10 but as hosts in 2014 of the WC I'm sure they will move up.
