Made programming changes this morning and got the following message. Looks like Bell will be charging extra for TSN Jets. Doesn't effect me on NHL Centre Ice but those in the Jets Region may have to pay extra.

Does Bell own Leafstv?
Given the first ever national free preview of Leafstv and the fact they own Habs TSN, does it make anyone else think they'll unveil a mini-centre ice package if you will? Leafs TV, Habs and Jets? One tidy seasonal bill. Screw over everyone equally. But still, no NHL Network HD. Such a farce. |

Nope, won't happen. Bell doesn't own Leafstv and the NHL sets blackout restrictions. LeafsTV was only on free preview for the Calder Cup final and it should be gone shortly.

The NHL sets the blackouts on games I understand but on all other content? LeafsTV shows a lot more then just leafs games... which I do realize TSN Jets and Canadiens do not, so they are different.

LeafsTV is setup to be a regional channel to be available in the Leafs viewing region, owned by MLSE, or maybe Rogers and Bell now. Either way, it is still a regional channel that was only available for the Calder Cup games. I believe Game 7 was scheduled for yesterday, if it happened, so the preview should be ending shortly. TSN Jets and Habs only show games when they are on, nothing else, so no special package will ever exist.

So Bell's just going to put TSN Jets into a package of it's own come next season then?

Yes, it will be all by it's own next year. We were lucky it was free to those in the Jets region this year. Every other provider charged $10/month for the TSN Jets channel alone. I would assume Bell is doing the same thing now.

TSN Jets is a channel I got at no extra charge and I will not be paying extra to keep it. Does anybody know if there is going to be an extra charge for TSN Montreal? I don't live in that region so I don't get that channel.

Is TSN-Montreal part of Bell's basic offering or do you need to subscribe to TSN to get it? I always thought it was odd that TSN-Jets was included in basic. Are we sure this isn't what Bell is getting at versus charging for the channel alone?
EDIT: Just checked my last bill and the wording is a bit more revealing... looks like it will be a premium channel like other Mb/Sask/NWO providers. Probably will be $10/month as well. Effective August 30 2012, TSN Jets channel will no longer be part of basic subscription. Please note that you will still be able to subscribe to it as a separate add-on channel during the NHL season. At any time, whether you have questions or wish to modify, extend, cancel or add services, you can always call us at 1888 759-3474. LOL, for $80 per season it's actually worth my while to register my dish to an Alberta address and continue to subscribe to NHLCI and get the channel that way. |

Now that August 30 has passed (see post 11), does anyone have any further information on this?
Probably more preoccupied with a looming lockout, but would be good to know if there will now be a charge for this channel. It is still showing up in my IPG so doubt any changes have been made... |

So according to an online Bell agent they are not charging for this channel again this year. TSN-Jets will continue to be part of the basic package at no charge to Sask/Mb/NWO/Nunavut. I asked if that was for the 2013 season and she confirmed this was updated information. But I guess that could still change in the next week... agents don't always have most up to date information...
