Over the past couple weeks, any time we've had the main stb(PVR430) tuned to Galaxy music the stb turns itself off after about 1.5 hours. It's also connected to the AVR, and the AVR stays on no problem ..just no signal anymore. We can turn the PVR/stb back on, but then after another hour or so the stb again turns itself off. That problem doesn't happen when the tv is on and in the mix (and when the PVR/stb is of course tuned to a tv channel).
Also, wifey is complaining that she is randomly losing some of her recorded tv programs -- they just go missing after a few weeks in the can, while others stay put. Example: record a series of 6 shows, watch 3, and the other 3 vanish before she has a chance to view them. This is starting to become a regular event and can no longer trust the PVR archival system. An nope, the PVR isn't anywhere close to full. All the household stb's have recently been firmware updated and it's since then that these events seem to have started happening. We'd appreciate any ideas on why this is occurring and what the fix(es) might be |

My brother has noticed that with his PVR after having Galaxie left on for an hour and a half or so.
I'll give it a try on my PVR too and see what happens. |

I have also had the same thing happen at about 2:30PM. I don't use the Music room app- I just manually select the channel I want. I'm connected to an AVR as well, so TV is off. It worked for over an hour before it shut off. Turned it back on using the 430 front panel button and it then continued to play for several hours after that.

So maybe related to version 2.1 that is supposed to shut down the reciever after no activity for 4 hours? I know it isn't lasting for four hours but maybe a glitch in the new software is causing this on music channels??

Confirmed with Telus that it's related to the Energy Star feature. I'm guessing that since the TV is off, the PVR shuts off in less than 4 hours of inactivity like it normally would. Telus can disable the auto-shutdown feature; you just have to contact them to do so. Not sure if they can lengthen the time before it shuts off automatically.

well i went up on online chat to see about this energy star feature. According to the person helping me there are 2 options, 4hrs or 24hrs. There is no way to turn the feature off completely.

Thanks for the tips. I called Telus and the tech guy bumped me to the 24 hour option -- I can live with that.
He also indicated that the 2.1 update has caused all sorts of new niggly problems ..of which they are trying to resolve. So... as for the PVR randomly deleting recorded programs, apparently Microsoft is aware of this problem and Telus says a fix should be happening before the end of the month (July '12). |
