I haven't heard anything official yet, but I've noticed on my customers Internet as well as my own that instead of reaching 7.5-ish I am now getting 9.5-10 Mbps download.

I guess it was time for an incremental bump. Seems they've always done that since they came out with Internet. Every couple years, bump it up a tiny bit

They are changing their plans - Bolt is gone (you can stay on it for now, but it will be phased out) - base speed for Lightning is 9Mbps, Lightning 10 is 10Mbps, and they are planning to roll out even faster speeds this summer apparently - up to 50Mbps?

Looks like they are also removing the Utlimate TV requirement to get those speeds. About time...
$50 for 10, $60 for 20...

Lighting10 and Lighting20 are on promo for $20 for the first three months.

After the promo Lighting10 is the same price as the current Lighting plan with a slightly faster speed. Lighting20 is $10 a month more.

If you move to the new plans you cannot go back to the old plans.

Also the Lighting MAX (25 Mbps) and Lighting Bolt (32 Mbps) plans are no longer available.

I decided to downgrade from Bolt to Lightning 10 for the $10 savings - that's how I knew about the changes. They are apparently going to be announcing "higher speeds" at the end of the summer, maybe coinciding with the LTE announcements?

I can't wait to hear how inflated the claims are for LTE speeds. At the most, I've reached 5 Mbps on HSPA.

I am going to call them and get moved to the 10 plan then, if it is the same price as what I have now.

Seems to be a downgrade from Bolt, I see no plan that offers 25 mbps or 32 mbps.

I was also told that people on existing plans are able to remain on them, including Max and Bolt. There also seemed like there was a Lighting30 plan however the person I spoke with could not find details. I suspect anything over 20 might end up being marketed as a small business service. I also wonder if the plans over Lighting20 will be fiber only.

Something weird is happening. When I try to look up the plans for my home, I only get two options, Light and Lightning. What's going on? There was Lightning 10 and 20 a few days ago.

The "business" internet plans are interesting.

Entreprenuer is $5/month cheaper than Lighting10 but offers up to 15 Mbps compared to 10 Mbps.

Professional is $2 a month more than Lighting20 but offers up to 25 Mbps compared to the 20 Mbps for the consumer plan.

Anyone thinking of changing to a business internet plan?

Edit: You should always read the fine print...

Entreprenuer is a six month promo price then it will be $55.95 a month.

Professional requires a five year contract.

I don't know if this is still true but years ago the business plan customers received a higher level of service / support from MTS if their link was down.

I remember hearing when MPI got rid of their dial up system they told the Autopac agents they were free to choose what ever major internet provider they wanted (MTS, Shaw, Westman), but they were required to have the business internet plan because of the better response time if there was a problem.

4) Customers with MTS Classic TV service will receive up to 9 Mbps. Other customers will receive up to 7 Mbps.

I like how windows live service is totally free tho
