Default Cheapest place in GTA for OTA HD reciever

I'm looking for a place that sells an OTA HD reciever with HDMI output for a reasonable price. Under $100. I saw factory direct had some for $39 but they are all sold out. If anyone knows of any liquidators that might have one, pls post.
Thanks

Just last night, someone asked me where they could buy a TV antenna. I mentioned a couple of places, including Save And Replay.

Also, Angel Electronics in Mississauga and Nutech Electronics in Hamilton. These stores sell brands like Channel Master and Antennas Direct.

Default Recommend Installer-Cawthra/QEW Lakeview Area???

Hi Everyone:

We're new to this site and are looking for an installer in the South Mississauga area. Does any one have anyone they can recommend? We're hoping the installer can help us choose the best antenna also.
Thanks for your help in advance! Much appreciated!

Default GTA OTA installer

I can recommend these guys who just did my install in North Mississauga. Let them know that Michael Lee from Mississauga sent you.

Could you please post pictures of the install they did, especially the grounding of your antenna? We normally don't comment on our competitors but we had a few jobs in order to fix inadequate grounding on SkyTune installations. They don't ground the antenna mast and use a small piece of 18 or 20 AWG braided (i.e. speaker wire) rather than solid copper wire in order to connect the splitter used as a ground block to the indoor panel ground.

Also, how long did it take them to do your installation?

Regards,

Dr. Sat

No time for pictures - I'm busy and traveling this week. The install took a few hours, and given that I have a very high roofline I expected as much. They tacked the coax line down neatly down the brick of my house, into my utility room as I asked. They most certainly DID NOT use speaker wire to ground my line! The grounding wire is solid copper, grounding to the same location as other items I already have in the same room.

The grounding block should be outside your home, just before the cable enters your house and wired directly to a dedicated grounding rod for your antenna (the mast should also be connected to this grounding rod). There should also be a 6 AWG bonding wire from the grounding rod to your electrical ground to ensure the ground potentials are the same. See the thread Grounding Info & Standards: OTA/Dish/CATV/Telecom for details and further discussion on grounding.

Default Ready to go big

Hello all,

I've been a long time reader here, great information, community and advice. I've been getting solid signal of Toronto-based stations for years now but looking to upgrade to pickup US OTA broadcasts.
Has anyone dealt with xtek.ca? are they reputable? Perhaps sensuz or saveandreplay are better? Thoughts please.

Does anyone know a good place to buy Winegard 269 pre-amps in the GTA?? I have found them cheaper in the States (not impossible to go to the States, but more convenient and easier in the GTA).

andy mac, xtek is reputable. They used to have a bricks and mortar store in Markham so I patronized them as they were my closest antenna dealer.

Default Recommendation for OTA Ottawa Area Installer

Hi Folks,

My roof-top 4228 installation was completed several weeks ago by GR Tech Service. Cant say enough good things about the service and expertise from Gary Richards. He made a consultation visit, where he mounted a temp roof-top ant, and and ran the cable through the front door into the TV to see what the results were - consult cost $ 70.00, but was fully refunded if I decided to go and have the full set-up done.

If you're looking for someone in the ottawa area, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this supplier

I bought an old-style CM4228 off them many years ago.
They used to be (but are no longer) a forum sponsor, right ?

When I bought the 4228 off them, it seemed to be a pair of guys selling stuff out of an apartment, no idea if that is still the case

Default Antenna Tower

I am wondering where it is possible to purchase towers for tv antennas. We are located in Long Point, Ontario on Lake Erie. Thanks!
