Fried my new Gateway :( - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

Just signed up with Shaw (with the Gateway) for just under two weeks now and came home from the cabin this past weekend and our sump pump pipe broke... pumped water allllllll over the Gateway, modem and router. All of it toast. Booooo.

Made the trip down to Future Shop at lunch and picked up a new Gateway ($319 +tax) and a router ($169 +tax). Pricey lunch for sure! Found an old Shaw modem (looks the same as the new one) from our old residence. Gonna plug it in (new location

this time) when I get home. I'm sure I'll be back for setup questions later.

Call you home owner insurance. You may have other damage to your house in addition to the Shaw equipment.

You may be covered by your credit card if you paid for the original Gateway using it.
