It wouldn't surprise me if Bell Aliant uses Tribune Media Services (parent of zap2it) for guide data so if they were going to launch new channels they would have to tell TMS so they get the guide information.

file is correct. Aliant uses Microsoft Mediaroom which gets its guide data from Tribune. Aliant has to tell Tribune which channels it carries and what the channel numbers are.
There is a binding arbitration with the CRTC at the end of June between Bell Media and the BDUs that are disputing the contract terms, so I don't think anything will happen before then. Each BDU then has to negotiate the final contract and decide which channels they will carry based on the terms of the arbitration. Someone at Aliant probably sent Tribune their master channel plan, which has their channel layout if they decide to carry the channel. They've allocated the slots for the new channels, but that doesn't guarantee they will carry them. |

Have the channels disappeared from the list for anyone else? I guess Aliant monitors these forums & didn't like it.

I'm very disappointed.
Next stop will be Eastlink for me if the HD content and premium sports packages don't improve ! Hopefully the NFL Sunday Ticket will be offered this fall as promised by the Aliant CSR I recently talked to. Can't go another summer without MLB Extra Innings and my Red Sox games so I'll probably cancel before next ball season and go with Eastlink. A premium sports bundle similar to Eastlink's would be nice for $30 a month with MLB,NFL,NHL, College football & Nascar included in the package. The fibre is nice but if Aliant doesn't offer quality programing that compares with its competitors ......what's the good of it ! Please Aliant improve your service and you will probably get more subscribers and keep the one you have !! ![]() ![]() http://eastlink.ca/CableDigitalTV/Di...portsPack.aspx |

When I got Aliant last november, the CSR had told me that NFL was not available at that time because it was already in the season. She did told me that they were going to get it for the next season whenever that will be. I'm not a sports fan but would rather watch movies.
However, I hope you guys get it.....at the same time I get more HD movie channels!

Community 1 has launched.
Press release. Not at home right now so I can't check what's actually showing on channel 1, but it's been announced on Twitter & Facebook as well. |

Is Discovery in HD on Aliant?
As for the community channel, they were showing weird music videos at around supper time.

I've noticed that the Weather Network is now listed in the Apps section. It's actually not that bad. You can add as many cities as you want. They also have now Galaxie.

The weather app is the best one yet. Well done, Aliant.
Hopefully in the future it can be a widget of some sort, but I think it works well. |

I think you can add CBC newsworld to the list of HD channels on Eastlink. Please Aliant,if your going to raise our rates ....give us some more HD channels & a premium sports package bundle and try to catch up with your competitor. Very frustrated watching some of my favorite channels on SD ! Dave |
