does anyone have any updates on when the DNU should be completed or if it's delayed.
Saw that some areas are now getting some of the new channels they are holding back for the DNU, so why isn't this done for everyone?

Red face DNU won't be done in PoCo til Sept.

:Just spoke to a CSR on the phone and looks like we won't be able to see the new HD channels Movie Central 2 & 3, Animal Planet, Nat Geo Wild til September 2012 here in Port Coquitlam, B.C. I was looking forward to the previews of those channels and also the multicultural channel GMA Pinoytv. She stated that Shaw is working on the oversaturated nodes of there cable internet and once that's resolved they would proceed to finish off the DNU upgrade here in the Lower Mainland. I guess we'll just have to wait til the fall.

Thumbs up DNU finished in Poco

:Just an update. I got the letter from Shaw 2 weeks ago regarding the DNU in our area. As of tonight I'm able to view Animal Planet HD, Movie Central 2 & 3 HD, and GMA Pinoytv. I would like to thank Shaw for the quick response in completing the necessary DNU upgrades in Port Coquitlam, BC.

I got an upgrade notice in the mail a couple of months ago, and still no changes to channel lineup... (Burnaby Metrotown area)

I talked to Shaw and was told that the Austin Hub in Coquitlam would be going on June the 12th, not done yet. I then talked to Shaw at the local mall and they say sometime in August (I guess that means after Christmas by their time line).

I wonder if the DNU would fix the sound drop out picture stuttering problems i keep on having.
Changing the line to the house did nothing so don't know what else is there for shaw to change

Default Cable FM channels

so, it appears that sometime yesterday the Cable FM channels dropped off here in the Okanagan. Are these same stations available anywhere on TV, or am I stuck with the Galaxy music stations? I'm in a bit of a bad spot, and it was nice to have my local stations available via Cable FM, plus it was nice getting all the good stations out of Vancouver.

A lot of radio stations have internet feeds you can get by going to their websites. Just be sure you have plenty of bandwidth if you leave them on all day long.

yes, I'm sure all the stations I want do have Internet feeds, I just didn't want to go that way. I like being able to turn my stereo on and listen to them while I'm doing other things on my computer. I only listen to them for a few minutes in the morning before I head off to work, and sometimes on the weekend for a bit.

Ggellert, here's a thread discussing this specific topic:

Alternatives to Cable FM Radio (disappearing)?

If that's all you are doing then I wouldn't think it would be a real problem for you as far as using up your allotted quota would go.

I agree. I quite like the FM stations coming in over Cable. Here in Victoria I can get most of the stations from Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle in crystal clear format. My favorite radio station is 99.9 from Seattle. I can get it over the internet, but the audio quality of the FM version is far superior (I think Radio Station use low bitrates for online broadcasts).

Hopefully they don't vanish too quickly.

When I used to have Telus TV they broadcast Canadian stations through the digital box. IE sort of like how show has the galaxy channels, except telus would use channels to broadcast real radio stations. The downside was they were only Canadian stations (whereas Shaw retransmits stations in your area, IE stations from Seattle).

Maybe Shaw could digitize the feeds and stream them through the stb's?

yea, I'm not worried about using up my quota, but the sound quality of my laptop isn't the same as the sound quality of my home stereo, plus, my laptop bogs down when listening to internet feeds and surfing the net. But, I guess I'll have to figure something else out.

I fed an optical audio cable from my PC to my home stereo. I generally used it to play music from my PC on the home stereo. Which means it would easily work for online radio as well. I'll have to see if I can find an HD Radio version of my favorite station (as the regular version seems subpar).

It's still not as easy as turning my my receiver and pressing the tuner button. It's a shame that shaw seems to be discontinuing FM radio. I think a lot more people use it than they think.
