links are not entirely necessary, but thank you anyway. Nothing changes the fact I gotta use full on 16:9 HD, and change it too Zoomed, or Wide when viewing SD.
ok, so as I was writing that , yes I got confused. this has nothing to do with 4:3, or 16:9, has to do with changing between SD and HD channels and changing the modes (Zoomed, Full and Wide), when changing channels from "Ex: channel 661, to 81." I can't use full mode on SD channels, the black bars bother me.(Shows bar on left and right when 4:3, and bars all around when 16:9) It would seem my first wide screen didn't have burn in, but it got discolored where the black bars would be, from not using the pixels? I don't know what happened, but when i watched something widescreen, where there black bars show, it was a darker color then the middle($:3 part). sorry for the confusion and not having my facts straight. |

cantor- I am with you. Not beimg able to browse the guide while watching a recording is a pain. Not sure who to send comments about what they should be fixing!
However, I do like the way the recordings for series are lumped together. Keeps things a lot cleaner and easy to manage. |

Just a word of warning that the migration could result in corrupting some recordings.
I have been pvr'ing the entire season of Game of Thrones. After the last one aired my girlfriend and I sat down to watch, only to discover that all the ones recorded before our migration (8 out of 10) are corrupted. When I play them the screen goes completely black and nothing works (FF, RWD, stop, play, etc). I'm only able to press exit to return to live tv. I tried rebooting my system, but that did not fix it. I then called Videotron and walked thru a bunch of steps with the agent (such as rebooting, etc). Nothing worked. He discussed it with another agent and then informed me that this is already a known issue and they are currently testing a fix from Cisco. In their testing this fix has restored the corrupted recordings. He could not give me a date as to when this update will be rolled out. Note: I had other shows recorded before my migration that play fine. So not every recording got corrupted. I have kept all the corrupted recordings in hopes that the update will come soon and they can be recovered.

Even though I have lost some recordings (see my previous post) I generally really like the new interface.
Like: - 14-day guide which is actually starting to show season and episode number of shows (such as S03E02)! - When playing recording the jump ahead 30 second button works! - Grouping of recorded shows. - Being able to change filter to "package channels" - even though it doesn't remember this, its easy to change. And while in the guide of all channels you can see which ones you don't have in your package because they have a grey stop icon in them. - Guide and info show a lot more information (channel name, channel logo, full show description, etc). - Vertical dashed bar in guide that shows where in program you currently are. - When watching recording you can press info and actually get info about the recorded show rather than the useless info about channel 900 the previous system had. - Also when watching recording and you press info, you get the time bar broken up into 9 segments. You can press 1, 2, ..., 9 to jump to that segment. - Buried in the settings is the ability to add a buffer to the start/end of your recordings. Dislike: - They have removed the "quick" settings that you used to get when you pressed the settings button once. In that quick settings was closed captioning (CC). So it was very easy to turn on/off CC, which I do often because sometimes dialogue is hard to understand. In the new system CC is buried a few levels down in the settings menu. - In the program guide when you scroll forwards in time and hit the far right of the screen, the guide will jump (by a 2-hour block I think) rather than just scrolling 1/2 hour ahead like it used to. - When you press List you see your recorded programs. Pressing List again switches to scheduled programs. Pressing List again exits the list. There is no way to easily toggle back and forth between recorded & scheduled. - Same with the Guide, when you first press it you get a partial screen guide. Pressing guide again gives you a full screen guide. And again exits the guide. Why not toggle back to the partial? You can easily exit the guide or list at anytime by pressing Exit.

I would like to know as well... Last night, i wanted to refresh my memory for True Blood and watch the last episode of season 4. When it started, all 4 sides had black bars and the standard def looked terrible. i had to stream it from my Apple TV instead of using the Videotron VOD i pay for...Its just not right, they need to change this ASAP.

Is there a way to have that secondary power outlet turn on and off when the terminal powers on and off?
It controls my bias light. Well to answer my own question above, there is no option to enable the external power outlet to go on and off with the terminal -big bummer for me Asked also about not having the old generation up-conversion 1 or 2 for picture format and that too is no longer available. Finally asked if I could go back to the old generation and they said no because eventually everyone will have the new generation. Can't wait for Fibe to be in my area. I bought mine in dec 2010 and it's not compatible with Illico 2.0. Must be bad timing on my part. My previous box lasted 4.5 years, this one barely has 1.5...
I'd like to see how they're going to force me to pay to upgrade to 2.0. I'm not paying another dime to replace a piece of electronic that's perfectly functional or adding another service to my account to get the promotion for the HD recorder. What is the most likely scenario for Videotron to ditch 1.0? What timeframe should we expect? |

I contacted videotron and asked them about VOD in HD. They said the content is available in french. As for a timetable in english, this was their answer: Well eventually everything will be in HD, you just have to be patient. Typical videotron response.
What upsets me most is they don't care about their english based clientele but continue to advertise in english on every channel. The stupid Sugar Sammy commercials, or the technician trap. Its infuriating everytime I see it. They could afford all this money on commercials but can't even translate their promotional and video guide online for illico 2. |

Lately I've turned my TV on in the morning to a ''Blue screen''. The decoder is frozen and the only way to restart it is to unplug it. Has anyone encountered the same problem ?

no, having no issue at all with my Cisco 8642HD. What model do you have?
This is most likely a hardware issue?? Is the receiver still under warranty? if so, I would recommend bringing it back to Videotron for an replacement.

Anyone have an issue when trying to skip ahead while watching a recording?
I can fast forward just fine but when I skip, though the time progresses, when I press play or stop skipping the image and the audio are not synced. The image becomes frozen or extremely choppy (like 1 frame every 10 seconds) while the audio continues. Fast forwarding does not create this problem. I have a Cisco 8642 HD running Illico 2.0. |

The first issue I have encountered is I had the series Nurse Jackie set up to record weekly. Today it no longer shows because the TMN listing is gone for tonight. My question is does the scheduled recording re-appear when the show appears back in the listing's or do I have to reset the recording?
