It was happening about once every day or so before but now it's happening a lot more frequently. Every couple/few hours so far.

Get on to Concierge Chat and see if a tech can do some remote troubleshooting, they have a pretty good view of what is going on with your equipment, just a thought

I'll definitely be talking to someone.
I had a thought while out on my bike. I never rebooted the Gateway after I disconnected the external drive. I did go into to settings and properly "disconnect" it before disconnecting it physically. So, not sure if this has anything to do with it but we will see. |

I noticed on the Shaw website, before 7.0.3 was deployed on my machine, it had a statement that the screen saver change to a 12 hour delay had already been deployed. The screen saver on my TV's is definately coming up MUCH sooner than said 12 hours.
I now have 7.0.3 and it's still not delayed 12 hours. Has anyone noticed a change on the screen saver? |

Haven't noticed that, but I did notice the pain in the backside "inactivity notice" after two hours is still there!

Apparently the next code, 7.0.4, went out to Shaw employee testers today. I don't know if that one will include DLNA or not yet but will post it if I find out it does. This should mean we should see this next release in 4-6 weeks if no major issues are found.
Given the underwhelming release of 7.0.3, I'll just hope it comes with more fixes than introduced bugs.

Just going to add this picture of a....big block of missing data.
That is a series recording not a one time thing started late. |

I sure hope that next update is better (wait a second ... deja vu moment here). That last update was a second disappointment in a row. I haven't seen any improvement to video problems (had another show recorded with video glitches through the first half hour on the weekend) and the grid guide is worse than before in my mind (slower, still missing lines at times, and now less rows displayed). Sounds like they may have fixed the rebooting issue but that was newly introduced in the previous update so that is just getting back to status quo.
The comments in the forum also seem to be getting more negative in tone and I can't say I blame people. I believe the frustration level is getting higher and I hope Shaw realizes that some people have been waiting for a significant amount of time (Gateway was released about a year ago so up to a year for some) to get quite basic functions to work correctly and smoothly. Extra features now seem like a long forgotten promise too. I can't think of another business that could survive this and their semi-monopoly status is giving them much more leeway than they deserve. Regular businesses would have to find ways to improve or they would dissappear. Even if we could at least get updates that are two steps forward and one back it would be better. Feels like one step forward and one or two steps back at the moment. At some point soon I'll have to consider that what I have is all I'm going to get out of the Gateway system, warts and all, and hope that future updates don't break too much existing functionality. The unrealized potential of the system is really sad to think about. Maybe I should have posted this on the rant thread. |

Its just seems odd that everybody seems to be having different issues, while others like myself have really had no major problems. I've never had any issues with recording, other than the guide being wrong and missing a show, which is really a not a Gateway issue, as it happened more with the old box. I've probably done only about half a dozen reboots since January, none in the past month. I would go as far to say that the Gateway is as close to perfect now as can be expected. My set up is one only one portal, with one TV, no expander. The wiring looks like a mess. A bunch of splitters in the box outside, one to the tv, one to the gateway, one each to phone and modem. The box outside is so stuffed it has to be held closed with a zap strap. Go figure?

Oddly enough, I just received a letter from Shaw telling me about the 'improvements' from the latest update. Didn't they do this already using the internal messaging system of the Gateway? I guess this explains why my bill just went up another $5 or more. Shaw seems to find a never ending myriad of ways to annoy their customers.
I have been told DLNA should be part of 7.0.4 along with some other 'cool features' but let's wait and see before getting our hopes up.

Seriously, Shaw needs to get their heads checked, really listen to all the complaints and start releasing new updates that actually address stuff. And those updates need to come faster. |

I got the letter as well, and it almost made my blood boil. I have TV, Internet and Phone with Shaw, and they send me a LETTER?! I think that's the ONE way they could contact me (besides singing telegram) that doesn't involve one of the services I have through them, and it costs them money. Jesus, how stupid are they?

I have 13 minutes of a 1 hour show, which happens to be one of my favourite shows.
I am getting very agree at this stage. P.S. And the odd thing is it is recording the last <15 minutes of the show rather than the first <15 and stopping. |
